Basket1566/3 a-b

Rectangular light brown woven basket with convex fitted lid. Horizontal bands of red and black colour run the lid, while repeating vertical, alternating red and black geometric designs encircle the sides of the basket. A small looped handle sits in the centre of the lid, with more broken or damaged loops around the sides of the lid and basket.

Headdress1060/45

Small circular-shaped beaded headdress with beaded shell fringe and a long chin strap made of two interwoven beaded strands with alternating colours of orange, blue, red, green, white and pink. In the centre and on the inside of the main part of headdress is a small circular-shaped patch of brown coloured skin. On the outside, starting at the top of the headdress is a central orange bead with three bands of vertically beaded rows extending outwards with alternating grey, brown, red and blue coloured beads. Two small skin loops are found on each side of the headdress.

Fish Pendant1570/10

Light yellow coloured fish-shaped pendant, attached at the tail fin to a brown hide cord. The body has a small top fin on the upper body, a small back fin near the tail fin, a large carved circular eye, a down turned mouth and a linear square design across the length of the body. Carved grooves on lower portion of the body are indicative of gills.

Rectangular basket with domed lid. Coiled cedar root with bifurcated stitches and parallel slat base construction. Basket has flange. Lid is convex and decorated with beaded design in white, black and red. Body of basket decorated with star designs. Lid attaches to basket with four rawhide thongs and two rawhide hinges.

Drum1768/92 a-b

Circular drum with wooden frame. Skin attached to frame by thonging threaded through holes around outer edge. Six tension bands inside, all attached to small central block of wood. Painting of dogfish in centre. Part b is a drumstick: handle tapering toward padded head which is held in place by a leather thong wound around it.

Carved wooden nak nox mask of human face with red and blue striped design. Outer sides of nose and lips outlined in red. Circle design on sides of either cheek. Two strips of rawhide on back, attached with metal nails on one side. Strip of wood nailed across lower back of inside. Top of nose attached with three wooden dowels. Plastic wire attached by screws on top of inside.

Pair of child’s moccasins with central eagle design and geometric patterns beaded over the toe. Done in light blue, dark blue, red and yellow. Moccasins are white with an extended, overturned brown rim, and a long, narrow tongue with a lace on either side of it.
