Purse3239/11

Small hide purse. Rectangular bag is envelope shaped, with flap folding over the top opening and coming to a point at front centre. A metal snap closes the purse at flap's point. Hide is light tan in colour, decorated on the front with small glass beads in a variety of patterns including arrow shapes in red, white and yellow, lines along the flap in red and green or blue, flowers in blue and pink, a zig zag line in dark blue, and edging in light blue. A fine handle of pink and blue beads is attached to the top corners of the bag. Back and interior are undecorated.

Pipe Bag3239/1

Beaded and quill work pipe bag. Long bag is made of hide, thin and pliable on top, thicker and stiff with beading below, attached to a series of hide thongs wrapped in red-dyed quills, ending with an undecorated, dense hide fringe at bottom. Top portion of bag has two sets of thongs, as well as small metal tubes from which emerge a red fibre tassel. White-beaded panel contains coloured motifs, yellow and blue diamonds and triangles on one side, green, yellow and red triangles on the other. Quilled section incorporates concentric rectangular designs in purple, orange and green. Interior of bag is unlined and undecorated.

Quillwork Panel3239/4

Hide panel decorated with quillwork in two colours. Long rectangular piece of pliable hide is fully covered on one side by yellow-dyed quillwork, applied in a basket weave pattern. Red dyed quillwork is used to create four sets of three red lines, each extending horizontally across the panel, two emanating from a central line at middle, and two encroaching inward from the edges, each also backed with a red line.

Awl3239/8 a-c

Wooden awl, inside a beaded, lidded container. Long, rounded wood piece comes to a sharp point at bottom, flat on top end. Rawhide container (part c) holds awl in it's entirety, and includes an overlapping lid (part b) that is round at mouth, tapered at top.. Both are fully covered on exterior in blue glass beads with stripes of black and orange, with lid holding lines of pink along edges.

Small hide pouch. Flat bag is light tan in colour, rounded on base, and decorated on the front with small glass beads and black cellulose ? sequins. Edge is embellished with a scalloped row of sequins that extends into a double handle at top. Bag interior has two lines of black fabric sewn to the front panel. Back of bag is undecorated.

Miniature Moccasins3259/54 a-b

Miniature beaded moccasins. Made of hide with wide beaded flaps. The beading is mirrored on the two shoes. Along one flap, there is a light blue with repeating white and red diamond designs. On the opposite flaps there is a dark blue with repeating yellow rectangle designs. Dark blue strip of beading down the front of the shoes with triangles of red and yellow, and two rows of beads down the back of blue, repeating with white, green and yellow.

Basket3259/44

Burden basket with tumpline. Small, square base; basket walls flare toward rim, with a slightly curved profile. Black and red cherry bark imbrication is used to create linear designs with deep ‘v’ shapes on all sides. Hide thong loops, tied through the weave near rim, hold a tumpline made of red and grey wool and braided cedar bark.

Inland style hide sheath covered with red cloth. Beadwork on front and along the edge of sheath. Main beadwork design consists of light blue, pink and yellow flowers, along with green and brown leaves. Black cloth covers the back.
