Flat, rectangular, decorative bag, made from two different types of textile. The front of the bag is made from very finely embroidered, multi-coloured textile with patterns that resemble an ikat weaving. The back of the bag is made from a cotton warp face ikat textile with large red and yellow patterning on an off-white background. All four edges of the front of the bag are finished with narrow multi-coloured tablet-woven braids. The sides and bottom edge of the bag are trimmed with dense, long (11 cm), multi-coloured, twisted fringe (red, dark yellow, purple, off-white, brown, green and blue). The opening of the bag is trimmed with four multi-coloured tassels. The front of the bag is lined with a loosely woven, printed, tan cotton textile.

Bag, made by bringing three corners of a square piece together, leaving the fourth corner open as a flap. The front of the bag is embroidered with a large multi-coloured sun symbol in the centre surrounded by several decorative borders. There is an orange pompom and a length of green twisted cord attached at the point of the flap. The back of the bag is decorated with three red pompoms.

Ribbon Sash873/12

Woman's sash made from a length of ribbon that has been embroidered with pastel flower motifs. The circular design is repeated every 10.2 cm. The centre section is stiffened with starched cotton gauze. Ends are finished with yellow, orange, and gold sequined braid.

Open-top HoodEd1.292

Open-top hood made of black silk damask with long ear flaps to which are attached long ribbons of the same fabric. The damask is patterned with peony flowers. The hood is constructed of two halves sewn together at the centre of the forehead and centre back, but with an opening at the top edged with black piping ending with a short slit at the back. The hood is cut straight across the forehead with a convex curved edge along each side edged with black piping on each side. The long ear flaps project forward from the points where the forehead joins the sides. The hood is edged entirely with two layers of skin with black fur, one facing inside and the other facing outside. A flat purple silk cord crosses the opening from front to back, ending at the back in an elaborate knot made of dark pink cord, partially detached and crumpled, below which are five dark pink tassels wrapped in gold thread. At the front there an elaborate double knot of gold and pink cord, below which are seven dark pink tassels wrapped in gold thread. The hood is lined with bright blue rayon fabric, most of which is covered with white fibrous paper which is attached with long running stitches.

Rectangular wallet-style purse, heavily embroidered with couched metal-wrapped thread and appliquéd mirrors. The embroidery designs are linear, with rows of mirrors and shiny strips arranged in rows. The metallic thread is silver which is couched with orange thread, making the metallic thread appear to be gold. Decorative embroidery stitches are worked in purple thread. The top and side edges of the wallet are trimmed with multicoloured glass beads. There are two small pockets and one large pocket on the reverse side.

Hair band composed of a strip of black fabric with a series of multicoloured bands at both diagonally cut ends. One end is fringed; the other end and the sides are hemmed. Fringed end has orange, gray, purple and yellow narrow stripes.

Small, square, embroidered bag, composed of two embroidered squares that have been stitched together on three edges, with one edge left open. A large ‘hooked sun disc’ design is embroidered in predominantly orange floss on deep purple background, and is placed off-centre, bordered with bands of meandering embroidery patterns and couched metallic braid. The two sides of the bag are virtually identical, except for minor design details. The three closed edges of the bag are embellished with multicoloured glass beading; the open edge is embellished with yellow and white beading. The embroidery is backed with red cotton textile.

A woman's very, very short close fitting multi-coloured vest trimmed with bands of dark blue lace around the armholes, neckline, and bottom. Cap of black silk damask with widely spaced roundels and floral motifs. The cap is made of two halves joined at a centre seam from front to back, except for the opening at the top, round when worn. This opening and the forehead area are edged with narrow piping. The edge of the cap is straight across the forehead, but then is cut at a right angle so that it covers the ears. The lower edge forms a circle from the right angle to the top opening. The outer fabric is folded under at the ears and threaded on a cord. The cap is lined with blue-green rayon damask with geometric stepped designs and roundels. A pink silk cord extends loosely across the top opening, attached at the centre front and back. At the back are suspended three pink tassels wrapped in silver thread. At the centre front is a complex knot design in pink cord, and five pink tassels.
