Basketry remnant. The description on the "Basektry Card" does not match this object, with the possible execption of the "body". This was a jumbled pile of material with little original integrity, or evidence of construction. It was rehoused 06/26/04. I removed one original tag with object number that was taped onto the cardboard support, the object number was also written on the cardboard. B. Basketry material. Objects cataloged as 48a, and 48b, were a jumbled mess and indistinguishable as separate objects. They were rehoused together as 48a-b. They are housed in one box, but elements are labled separated into additional boxes. These include: one box of bagged loose clay chunks, that had separated from what may have been 48a.; one box of pieces of wood (48b?); one box of loose remnants of possible netting (48b?); one box of basketry remains imbedded in clay (48a?): and one bag of loose debris. Three tags were removed, one original tag 48b; and two museum tags with accesion number and catalog number for each 48a and 48b. none were tied to an object, but placed at opposite ends of the board on which the objects were placed. 06/24/04 B. Rehoused 05/26/04. These items were taged with museum acc# and object# 638/1 through 5, (4&5 attached), and matched Basketry Card description. (note:They were located on blue acid-free cardboard with catalog # 45sk59b/564 written on it. Basketry Card #564, also list 5 false braided rim pieces. I could not locate # 564 at this time.) Most of the pieces are large possibly part of same basket - one piece definately smaller. Two pieces 2.06,two pieces 1.50 and one piece 1.35 in width. The larger pieces are loosly connected with remains of main parts of basket. Body: The 4 large rim pieces are attached to pieces of open twined basket - very coarse about 2 stitches per inch - Probably made fromsplit cedar. Smaller rim is also attached to a piece of open twined basket. Medium gauge. Probably made of reeds or willow. Bottom: none Provenience: Cut: n/a Horiz. Two basket handles, and a loose bundle of warp stands. Basket handles have tags with accesion #, object #, and designated 1/2 and 2/2. I left tags on objects.
