Hollow, straight bone with 2-ply twisted cord attached at one end using a tar resin? White feathers attached to end of cord with same resin. Cord is painted rust red.

Quiver1082/1 a-e

The long cylindrical wood case (part a) is partially wrapped around with sinew and it has a skin handle-holder. There is a skin lid cover (part b). Inside are three long wooden arrows with metal arrow points. The stems are wrapped with sinew at both ends.

Figure standing on back legs with seal-like head, overlapping ovoid wings with longitudinal channels, on back. There is a longitudinally aligned fish on left, front of body, and a seal on right. The figure's feet are slightly different, as the one on the left has 4 notches, indicating toes or claws, the other is boot-like. The figure's head has round holes at ears, eyes and nostrils with a slit at mouth. Fish has dots for eyes, line at mouth and u-shape indicating gills. Seal has dots for eyes and a line at mouth. Figure stands on a lighter, rectangular base. Series of characters, 8-01282, a copyright mark and '78' in a circle are inscribed on bottom. Coated with resin ?

Stylized seated figure with exaggerated facial features is behind and holding a creature with a larger flowing face and amorphous body beneath. Seated figure has two legs on either side of creature's feet. On one side they are propped against the creature's face. Seated figure has an exaggerated grin with two teeth rows, triangular nose with triangular nostrils, large oval eyes with round centres and a short forehead with head continuing straight into curved back. Creature has a lozenge-shaped forehead flowing back into seated figure, large eyes as in figure, similar nose and v-shaped mouth. Feature details are in light grey, unpolished stone, the rest of the sculpture is coated with a shellac-like resin. 'Isah Sheeg 77 55664 f' and a copyright mark are inscribed on the bottom. Some nicks and scratches show light grey.

Axe (t-shaped, mount Hagen type). Flat head of green-grey stone which projects 21 cm. from the handle, 10 cm. wide. Head balanced by projection of black palm wood 25 cm. long, flattened oval in cross-section, 3 cm. wide, with a narrow raised ridge around circumference 5.5 cm. from the end. Handle of black palm wood, and balancing projection coated with a black substance. Three components are bound together with heavy rattan.

An arrow shaft, 82 cm. long, made of pitpit (sword grass). The shaft is light brown with black coating. The foreshaft of black palm wood, 41 cm. long, has an incised design. At the point of insertion into the shaft, there is a sleeve of woven split rattan 1 cm. wide. The foreshaft is inserted into a hollow lanceolate bone point 10 cm. long with a sleeve of woven split rattan 1.5 cm. wide at the point of insertion. The point is rubbed with grey clay. The foreshaft is rubbed with grey clay and red ochre.

An arrow shaft made of a variety of pitpit (sword grass). The shaft is light brown with a black coating. The fore-shaft of black palm wood is round in cross section and narrower at the point end. This has been incised with deep longitudinal and short transverse lines. The insertion into the shaft has been secured with a sleeve of woven rattan. Sleeves and fore-shaft are coated with red ochre.

An arrow shaft, 86.5 cm. long, made of a variety of pitpit (sword grass). The shaft is red-brown with black coating. The fore-shaft of the black palm wood is 13 cm. long between the bindings. At the joint, with the shaft, there is a sleeve of woven rattan 1 cm. wide. The foreshaft is bound to the point coated with grey clay. The long bone point protrudes 14 cm. beyond the binding.

An arrow shaft, 62.5 cm. long, made of a variety of pitpit or sword grass. The shaft has black coating. The round foreshaft of black palm wood is 25.5 cm.long between bindings. Bound at the insertion into the shaft, there is a sleeve of woven rattan 2 cm. wide and to the point with a band of bark cord 5.5 cm. wide. The palm wood is bound with a narrow sleeve of woven rattan less than 1 cm. wide. The foreshaft is also bound with a narrow sleeve of woven rattan. The bark cord band is coated with grey clay. The point is a solid round bone projection 12.5 cm. beyond the binding and coated with a black substance.
