Top half of fan is red while lower half is light brown with a round medallion enclosing a red, green, and light brown swirl motif at the centre. Painted orange in half of a marquise shape around the handle. Orange area is surrounded with black paper. Straight handle of wood is split at one end for insertion of the fan and is painted black.

Perimeter of fan is circular except for the lower edge where the handle is attached which is straight and at right angles to the handle. Fan is covered with lacquered paper that has a design of three swirls converging at the centre coloured red-orange, black, and yellow. It has a narrow edging of black paper. The fan is inserted into a split in the handle which is flat and shaped like a pointed oval where it covers the fan, which is attached with two rivets. The shape of the handle is repeated with an outline of orange paint on the fan.

Both sides are covered with paper and are lacquered green with a painted black design like a paper cut around near the handle are mounting, enclosing an orange painted design shaped like a half-marquise. A closing fan with twenty-seven inner ribs of split bamboo each with an abstract design burned on the base of each side and two parent ribs of bamboo also with burned designs while one end of each is set into a piece of dark rosewood through which is passed a brass rivet. Fan covered with light brown paper on one side and painted with a landscape scene and six characters. Upper edge is covered with very sticky cellophane tape.

Around the orange area, there is a black paper cut on each side of the fan which is also lacquered. Fan is edged in dark green.
