Basket1054/5

Rectangular, coiled basket with tall, outward sloping sides. Exterior of sides are decorated with central pinwheel designs; long sides have double diamond designs to either side of the central design. Rim has open work of overlapping, single coil arches; coil below open work is decorated with alternating black, red, and beige sections. Long sides each have two loops of bark through then near upper corners.

Ovular, coiled basket with tall straight sides. Top coil forms two arches on long sides to which a handle is attached. Exterior is decorated with dyed cherry bark in diamond designs at centre of each side and at ends.

Basketry Tray1382/2

Flat, circular woven tray with raised sides and two small handles on the sides. Bottom of tray features three concentric circular bands of a repeating triangular pattern in red and yellow-white, and black and yellow-white.

BasketNb7.329 a-b

Small round twined basket with a lid (part b), wider at the base. Base (part a) radiates from a central point. Reinforced row of stitching demarcates the base from the sides. Walls decorated with two raised rows of wrapped stitches. In between the rows, there are eighteen, two to three, raised stitched segments. Rim has warps bent to the right and secured with a single row of twining. Flat lid with side has a central design that consists of two concentric circles surrounded by nine to ten segments. Reinforced row of stitching demarcates the top of the lid from the sides. Rim of the lid is finished the same as the basket.

Cylindrical basket with slightly flaring walls. Base warps radiate from a central point. Base is decorated with band of three rows of light red strands. Walls are decorated with three bands: the top band consists of one row of dark brown, one row of light-red and light yellow-brown alternating, and one row of dark-brown and light brown alternating. The remaining two bands consist of yellow grass woven through light brown warp strands with row of dark brown, a row of light red and light yellow-brown alternating and a row of dark brown and light yellow-brown alternating above and below the yellow grass strand. Rim is folded over and secured with row of twining.

Basket with a tight weave and slightly concave dish shape. Decorated with a ridge near the centre that has every third strand in light red alternating with two strands of undyed root. There is a decorative band near the rim of the dish with a geometric arrow design.

Circular light brown woven basket with vertical sides and a fitted lid. On the lid, six ducks swim around a central maple leaf-like shape. Around the sides of the basket, whalers in a canoe are depicted spearing a whale, in addition to the image of two large birds in flight. Around the top and bottom edges of the basket are bands of green and orange colour.

Woven, rectangular, handbasket with two arching handles. Main body of the basket is a dark brown on light brown checkerboard weave, with a striped band of pink and aubergine ringing the bottom and the top. Encircling the centre of the bag is a plain woven band with the image of a whale and two people in a canoe, repeated on opposite sides of the basket.

BasketNb7.317

Flaring basketry cylinder that is open at both ends. Bottom rim has warps turned up and secured by a row of twining. Walls are decorated with five bands consisting of a row of red-brown twining, light yellow-brown plaiting, and red-brown twining. Ridge on the walls formed by these raised rows of stitching. Band above this consists of two rows of yellow-brown twining.
