Rectangular basket of simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat base construction and splint rim loops in four places to attach handles to. Basket is partially beaded. Every other slat has four rows of beading in a stepped design four stitches wide, with two vertical lines per side. The ends have two vertical lines of beading (over two stitches) every other slat. Colour: light tan with red patterning.

Model Baby CarrierA4317

Small basketry cradle with interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat base construction and overcast rim. Each side towards the head end, has four red stripes (2 stitches wide, 3 rows high). Each side has seven black stripes (1 row wide, 4 high) at the foot end. The top end has six black stripes and the tail end has two red modified stripes. There are also thin skin straps attached near the four corners of the cradle as handles.

HatA3725

Dome shaped, double-woven, basketry hat with spruce root exterior and red cedar bark warps and liner. The top of the hat is indented with a plaited square of cedar bark, which is outlined with double strand twining in spruce root. The warps are then split and the twining continues, but is much finer. The top rim is outlined with one row of triple strand twining, as is the rim at the bottom of the hat. The hat is decorated with a green dyed rings near the top and bottom of the hat, and a purple dyed ring around the centre. The liner is woven with red cedar bark, except for two decorative rings in spruce root that have been dyed purple--one is near the top and the other the bottom. There are also two rings which flank the hat band that alternate green and the natural light yellow coloured spruce root. The hat band is diagonally plaited.

Part (a) Cylindrical coil basket (bifurcated stitches) with double looped border, foot and lid, part (b). Watch-spring construction. Imbricated design of zig-zag, outlined in red cherry bark with cat-tail grass (?) in middle, with triangles at each peak in checkerboard configuration of same colours. Imbrication on lid has four pointed design outlined in red cherry bark with cat-tail grass (?) in middle. Lid had a handle in the center at one time.

Burden BasketA5026

Rectangular flared coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat base construction. Skin loop and tie on one side, two loops and long tie on other side. Upper half of basket is beaded on three sides with staggered rows of cat-tail grass (?), wtih black cherry bark rows. Lower half of basket has "m" shaped pattern in red and black cherry bark with cat-tail grass on three sides. Fourth side has single rows of cat-tail grass (?) divided by three vertical bands in dark and red cherry bark and cat-tail grass. Rim is imbricated in cat-tail grass (?), with intervals of double stitch red or dark cherry bark.
