Fan484/2

Round paper fan that inserts into a small semi-circular-shaped wooden piece. Wooden piece extends into a long and narrow stick-like handle and is attached to a long cream coloured fibre cord and green tassel. On one side, the background of the fan is blue and white. Image is of a red figure wearing light-green coloured shorts. Hand of the figure is lifted in the air and is holding a red and blue stick(?). In background, arched over the figure, are alternating red and blue circular geometric designs. On the other side of the fan, there are two figures swinging from ladders on a cream and brown coloured background.

Single bound foot shoe with a raised heel and a slightly upturned toe. Heel is covered with aquamarine silk with multicoloured floral embroidery. Upper consists of bands of red, white and lilac silk, all with multicoloured floral embroidery. Top of upper is trimmed with blue silk. Lined with white cotton. Floral embroidery on bottom of sole.

Skirt Panel453/2 c

Yellow damask silk skirt fragment (part c). The skirt has no waistband. The pleats have black edging and embroidery. On each pleat are butterfly and prunus motifs in blue on black ground. Between the pleats are peony, chrysanthemum and lotus motifs in blue on yellow ground. Along the bottom hem is a black border with peony and prunus motifs. The back is unlined.

Gold coloured robe with brocade roundels. The robe has a round neck, long sleeves and centre opening with metal frog closures. There are slits in the sides and back. On the front, back and sleeves are large roundels containing a five-toed dragon motif in silver and gold, on yellow ground. The inside lining is dark blue silk.

Robe1022/3

Dark blue silk brocade floor-length ceremonial robe with phoenix, dragon, pearl, fire and vase motifs woven with gold metallic threads and multicoloured silk. It has a standing collar and tapered sleeves. The robe closes in front asymmetrically (left over right) and fastens at the right side seam, under the sleeve, with a gold-coloured metal (brass?) ball button and loop. The silk fabric has been cut and pieced together like a patchwork, so that the main design elements are placed at centre front and centre back, so as to produce a symmetrical arrangement of design motifs in other places, for instance on the skirt. A panel of plain dark blue matching silk, which is not seen when the robe is worn, has been used to extend the lower half of the right front where it is overlapped and covered by the left. The edges are finished with red-orange silk damask facings, cut on the bias, and the lining is bright green damask with peony motifs.

Rectangular red woven textile. In the centre are rows of interlocking triangle motifs, alternating colours white-red, metallic-red and multicoloured. On the ends is a wide band with a diamond pattern containing metallic floral motifs. Around the edges is a thin border of a small white diamond pattern.
