Blouse3587/40

Sleeveless blouse. Square-shaped brown blouse composed of two long rectangular pieces of textile folded lengthwise, partially stitched together on their long edges, leaving two armholes and a neck hole. The weave has subtle horizontal purple lines, light brown stepped lines and dark brown metallic thread lines throughout. Mid-textile, about 4 cm of fabric has been folded in and sewn creating a subtle raised band. The armholes are lined with off-white buttons stitched on in alternating dark green and pink threads and some sequins. The neck hole is lined with tube-like seeds attached horizontally with a single off-white button at the centre on both front and back. The same seeds are attached vertically in pairs spaced around the bottom hem over top of purple and metallic thread embroidery. The centre seam and side seams are embellished with grey sequins. Collector's tag sewn to interior.

Man's sleeveless shirt. Composed of two long, rectangular woven textiles that are folded in half lengthwise, then partially stitched together down the long edges, creating a v-neck opening for the head, and arm holes. Both pieces have single-sided embroidered designs on a black background. Both sides have three vertical stripes embroidered over repeating horizontal bands containing angled lines, Chevron and diamond shapes.

Tube skirt composed of a rectangular textile that is stitched together on one side to form a tube. The fabric is woven with a pink ground. The skirt has ikat patterning - 6 larger horizontal bands with 6 pairs of smaller bands. The top of the skirt has a plain pink area before the bands begin. Collector's tag sewn to interior.

Long-sleeved jacket or blouse. Jacket is short in the torso and is made of dark brown fabric. Garment is open at front and edged with beige. The cuffs, shoulders and front opening have red silk. On the right shoulder, there are two white buttons on both front and back with short multicoloured fibres attached. The front panels and back of the garment are heavily embroidered in dark purple-red, dark pink, green, light grey-brown and red in various geometric designs. There is a small square pocket on the front right interior, and the interior is unlined.

Shoulder Cloth3634/1

Long, red ceremonial shoulder cloth (rachu) with an embroidered panel all along the centre; twisted red fringe on either end. Panel consists of central yellow medallion with concentric circles done in dark yellow, orange and light pink. Area surrounding outer edges and inner circles filled with horizontal bands and squares with white diamonds; bands and squares done in dark green, light green, yellow, red, light pink, and blue. Medallion has groupings of semi-circular protrusions along the top, bottom, left and right edges, with blue and purple swirls in between the groupings of circles. Patterns mirrored on either side of medallion. From centre out: pink and brown flowers, orange and yellow flowers, pink and dark purple flowers, and yellow birds with orange feet and beaks, red and orange crests, and multi-coloured feathers along wings and tails. In between the floral and bird sections are flowers inside semi-circles that extend from top and bottom edges of panel; different colours along each side of central pattern. All floral motifs have dark green and light green stems and leaves throughout; blue and purple swirls extend from flowers as well. Semi-circles with flowers and the bird sections are bordered with red, yellow, light green, dark green, and orange bands; top and bottom edges of panel trimmed with black. Yellow line embroidered on either end of cloth, which extends into one twisted fringe. Back of cloth is undecorated.

String Puppet3472/13

String puppet of a noblewoman character. She wears a full-length pink dress with long flowing sleeves. She wears a wide black velvet belt with three pearls(?) down the front, and a section of off-white lace underneath. There is a layer of off-white lace around the shoulders with a small black lace collar. She wears tall black boots with lace design. She has rosy lips and cheeks with light blue eyes, and dark brown hair that is styled up in a bun with some curls on her face. Her hands, legs and face are carved. Puppet is moved by a metal control rod with a wooden crossbeam, with strings attached to head, shoulders, hands and knees. Blue vest with front opening; secured with six metal buttons towards the bottom edge. Entire vest is decorated white embroidered flowers, leaves, and vines. Collar and front opening are trimmed with a white band; embroidered pink, dark blue, and purple flowers with green leaves and yellow highlights throughout. White band is bordered with metallic thread stitched into a scallop design; metal rings underneath open weave. Buttons are metal with raised floral designs; painted pink, yellow, blue, silver, and gold. Three gatherings of fabric along bottom edge on centre back of vest. Interior is lined with plain cotton.

Cream-coloured matron's blouse with long, stiff-cap sleeves and front opening; secured with six buttons. Entire blouse is decorated with embroidered pink and red flowers, with white detailing throughout. Cuffs, bottom edge, and opening of blouse are trimmed with a wavy line of silver sequins. Bottom edge of main body of blouse is pleated and has light blue scallops along the bottom and top edges of the pleated band. Buttons are plastic; top is three-piece and pink, rest are gold with blue dots and semi-circle decorations. Blouse interior is unlined.

Decorative embroidered mattress cover composed of a large cone-shaped red-brown fabric embroidered with large floral designs in circular patterns in red, grey-beige, orange, dark green, purple, and dark purple-blue. The rounded edge is unfinished. A v-shaped red fabric is attached to both straight edges and is embroidered with repeating square panels with geometric designs. The brown edging is decorated with zigzag decorative ribbon. The bottom edge is lined with long fringe in sections of dark brown, maroon, dark green, red, beige, dark purple-blue with white beads at the ends. The cone-shaped piece is backed by a piece of textile with a red and beige paisley pattern, the v-shaped section is backed with red fabric.

Embroidered square textile. The central design is a large red embroidered X-shape composed of rhombus flowers on a light grey-beige background. Small embroidery framed circular mirrors are included around the designs as well as within the central square. The edge is bordered with repeating rhombus shapes in alternating directions creating a zigzag pattern, with small triangles filling the space. This zigzag band is separated from the central design by a band of yellow threads, bordered by black on each side, that are stitched in alternating in orange and green thread. The edge has a thin band of black. Reverse is backed with red fabric.
