Orange skirt (part b) with pleats and embroidery. Across the top is a wide cotton waistband with three rows of frog closures. On the edges of the skirt and pleats are black borders, some with a floral trim. On the front and back are square panels with peony, vase, peach, ‘Buddha’s hand’ citron, Ruyi scepter, pair of scrolls and sword motifs in gold, pink, red, blue, green and brown. The inside is unlined.

Purple damask skirt with pleats and embroidery. Across the top is a wide cotton waistband with two loops. The purple damask is woven containing the eight Buddhist objects of good fortune. On the edges of the skirt are black borders with gold trim. On the front and back are panels with elaborate borders and butterfly motifs surrounding a rectangular picture of a rooster in red, gold, yellow, black, green and blue. The inside is unlined.

Sari338/1 a

Sheer green silk sari with embroidery. Arranged in rows overall, is an embroidered design of a gold arc with an ‘x’ motif in the centre and three floral motifs underneath. While the colours of red, green, black and silver are constant, their position within the designs change. An elaborate border is sewn to the bottom edge. The border has a gold overlay with square and floral motifs on a green, blue and red striped ground. The back is unlined.
