Banner2738/54

Banner from a church with heavy embroidery in silver and copper thread onto a half-circle of rust coloured velvet. Metal discs, coils and lozenges, green and red glass beads, and silver painted metal buttons are used to depicted a lush garden filled with a variety of flowers and birds. The velvet is lined with a heavy, pale yellow checked cloth and a backing of the same material is sewn to it along the circular edge, leaving the flat bottom unstitched; three loop tabs project from the top.

Carved silver spoon with an oval shaped bowl and long handle ending in a triangulated point. Depicted is a killer whale on the shaft, a bird’s head on the tip of the handle and a face on the bottom of the bowl. The tip of the handle curves slightly back. Fine crosshatching in the negative space. There are seven lines of design on the whale's tail. The underside is engraved with ‘Fort Simpson; B.C.’, written on two rows.
