Top portion is black with white beading on the edge and the rest of the apron is beaded with white beads, is accented with geometric designs in blue, red, pink, yellow, orange, and green beading, and edges are trimmed with blue beads. Two twisted white fibre ties hang down the front.

Hood for opera cape. Peacock, chrysanthemums, and prunus in gold and blue all on pale pink ground. Border: bamboos and chrysanthemums, silver on royal blue ground. Similar designs and embroidery on cape and hood (see N1.631 a). White fur edging; blue patterned cotton lining both on hood.

White collar with embroidery and brass frog closure. The collar is rounded at the back and pointed at the ends. On the front are butterfly and peony motifs in gold, blue, turquoise and pink. There is blue trim, gold braid and white fur around the edges. There are green glass eyes and tin reflectors. The back lining is white cotton.

Cantonese Opera ArmourN1.684 a

White armour robe with slender sleeves, epaulets and a side opening with brass frog fasteners. Below the waist, the armour divides into one front panel and three back panels. On the front are fu dog, bird, triple cash, endless knot, sun and peony motifs in silver, blue, green, pink, red and orange on a white ground. The collar band has peony motifs in silver, green and pink. The sleeves have multicoloured bird, narcissus, peony and swastika motifs. On the back are butterfly, bat, fish, lotus, endless knot and peony motifs. On each of the large back panels there are five tassels in yellow, turquoise, pink, green and orange. On the front are six large tassels in turquoise, green, orange, yellow and pink. There are green glass eyes, tin reflectors, bells and white fur on the front and back. The inside lining is white cotton.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.676 b

The folded hat is orange and rectangular, decorated with appliqué and metal-mirrored discs. The front of the hat has a centre panel with the sides folded inwards. On the centre panel is a large white circle with an embrodiered bird. Surrounding the circle are tuffs of white rabbit fur. Around the circle are motifs in silver thread on an orange background. The lower half of the hat has motifs in silver thread on rounded sections of a black background. Along the bottom is a blue border with brass discs, edged with purple with traces of gold. The back of the hat has motifs in silver thread over two blue ovals and an orange background. Inside the centre hat folds are large white circles with goldfish surrounded with tuffs of white rabbit fur. Covering the entire surface of the hat are metal discs with mirrored centres. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Brown wood drum on top of a figure's head. Carved female at the bottom has a thin, deep head with bulging semi-oval eyes, a nose, and a mouth as well as pointed breasts which have four vertically linear incisions, a pointed belly, and bent knees while sitting on a chair. Her arms are holding the drum on top of her head. The drum is carved with two sets of an upward facing lizard ?, a right facing goat ?, and a left facing bird holding a snake in its mouth. Top of the drum has stretched skin with some fur remaining.

U-shaped band embellished with alternating sections of black and red beads several by light brown lines. There are two loops at each end of the necklace. Beads are strung on string, and then wound around the rolled fabric tube.

Boy's outer coat, or parka, of brown caribou fur. The coat has a rounded close fitting hood, the crown is slightly pointed. The coat is thigh length and has a slit in the middle of the front. The hood, bottom and split are trimmed with white caribou fur. Groups of fringes are attached to this white trim along the bottom. A brown fur mitt trimmed with a broad band of white fur is attached to the right sleeve. (Note: photo shows inner and outer coats together, A2.514-15.)
