Belt1128/8 a-b

Man's brown leather belt, trimmed with white painted grommets and brown metal studs; fastened with a narrow leather strip and metal buckle. Two leather loops on bottom edge for attaching tools. Two tools attached: a knife (18.3 cm) with metal blade, wood and bone handle, leather and bone sheath; ovoid leather pouch (approximately 33 cm long), trimmed with yellow and red wool fabric, yellow and green rickrack and light yellow-brown reindeer fur. Small square of plastic tape (reflective tape?) glued on at centre back; evidence that two other squares of tape had been attached but have fallen off.

Lace-Making Pattern1350/36

Pattern for making bobbin lace, consists of a strip of parchment which is perforated with pin holes and marked with pencil in a 'fan' lace design. Tabs made of medium blue linen or cotton textile are attached at each end. The initials of the pattern-maker, written in ink, are located at one end. Wrapped as a bundle in a piece of blue tissue paper, secured with a steel straight pin. A descriptive label, hand-written in ink on a scrap of white paper, accompanies the item but is not attached to it.

Pair of white gloves with black patches of animal skin with long fur glued onto the fingertips and three places on the back of the hand. Long, translucent plastic claws are also glued onto the fingertips. A metal snap closure is affixed at the wrist.

Large, rectangular wooden box (part a) and lid (part b) with sides made from one piece of wood that has been bent at the corners. Two dark brown leather straps with a metal buckle fasten over the top of the lid. The box has a yellowed, varnished surface.

Drum1157/8

Drum made of wood covered in animal skin with short, mottled off-white and brown hair. Overall drum shape is cylindrical at top half, and tapering towards base on bottom half. One piece of skin stretched over bottom and up sides with a scalloped edge is joined to a circular piece of skin stretched over the top of the drum by wound strips of skin that have been pulled through holes at the edges of both pieces of skin. (Pink synthetic ribbon attached to one of two handles at top edge.)

White-grey hair for eyebrows. Dark brown hair for moustache and goatee. Slits cut out for the eyes which have white-grey hair for eyelashes. Slit cut out for the mouth.
