A relatively conical bark piece with a flattened side. The outside is red-brown, and the inside is light brown. There is a fold over the tip and stitched along the side.

Mask1570/54 a-y

The brown wood mask (part a) is a concavely curved elongated oval which tapers to a point at both the top and bottom. At the centre of the mask, there is carved a small round face with a forehead painted black, circular pupils cut out of the oval eyes, two small cut out nostrils, and an open cut out downward turned red mouth. Each pointed end of the mask is painted black, and there are black semi-triangles along the four sides of the central round face. There is a black-painted fin-like protrusion on each side of the top point of the mask, and a wood protrusion connected to each side of the bottom point of the mask with a metal wire. Many pegs (parts b-y) are inserted along the sides of the mask. The mask is connected to two curved wood sticks surrounding the mask in an oval formation by skin and fibre bands.

Shopping Basket1653/1

Rectangular baskets with vertical sides. Two handles go across shorter dimension; handles are formed from stiff rope with cedar bark coiled around it from end to end. Outer surfaces are decorated with four bands of lighter bark and a central diamond pattern in darker bark on each side.

Boots2663/65 a-b

High boots with slit at upper back. Leg portion is of thick black wool with blue braid at back and blue bias cotton cloth at top. Soles are of thick light brown leather closely stitched with two rows of angled stitches and regularly-shaped small stitches. Upper sole edged in blue-green leather, above which is piping and then seven rows of close stitches in various colours. Band of red wool around foot, with triangular of chain stitch embroidery over toes. Band of green wool fabric above this, with alternating orange and white circles embroidered at front and rectangle of blue, green and red fabric with embroidery around heel, with appliqué red and blue triangle above. Long embroidered red and blue triangle at front of shin.

Two-dimensional figure of a person wearing regalia on legs, around waist, at chest, and on head; shoulders and elbows are articulated; arms are controlled by horn rods attached at one end to the hands. Another darker, horn rod has been split down most of length and height of puppet is contained between the two sides which follow line of the body and curl up around ear and through the hair. Regalia is in muted tones of gold, green, white, blue, and red and has detailed cutouts to resemble lattice; face is painted black with red detail; rest of skin is gold; hair is black and has many arc cutouts to resemble curly hair. Label on red space between the two feet says, "GATUTKATJA."

Two dimensional, tall, thin man with articulated shoulders and elbows; arms have rods of horn from hands; another long, horn rod has central split and goes up height of puppet on both sides. Man is of a translucent skin with opaque painted decorations of shoes, bracelets, skirt, necklace, earrings, and facial features. Decorations are painted on both sides. Skirt is of a black and gold triangle design with red outlines; waist has a row of red and green alternating triangles above a row of green and gold triangles; fringe is in orange, blue, and white; another section of edging is orange and white with a gold vine design along it. Small tuft of dark hair protrudes upwards from back of head.

Shadow Puppet1568/2

Wayang kulit shadow puppet from Ramayana series: Kalamarica character. Two-dimensional figure with articulated shoulders and elbows; has a man-like body and a vibrant pink face with long, bumpy nose, small beard, and three fangs. Rest of skin is painted gold; clothing at legs is red with gold and white checkered diamond patterns; clothing at waist is a cloth with gold green and pink edging in back and blue, white and orange at front. Also at waist is a sword with a bird-shaped hilt in a yellow and beige scabbard. A decoration with gold ground and floral motif runs from side of head down to shoulder. There are bands at wrists and biceps in pink and blue at ankles. A sash in orange, yellow, pink and white goes around neck and down front. The arms are controlled by horn rods that are attacked to the hands; another horn rod is split down the middle and has height of the puppet between its two sides.
