Shadow Puppet1180/2

Shadow puppet of a dragon. Black head is decorated with yellow dots and black triangular designs. Mouth and tongue are red. Long curved body is decorated with black and yellow scales.Tail is fanned out and decorated with yellow line designs at tips and black line designs at its base. Four legs with sharp claws are along the length of the body. Two long sticks with metal rods are attached to the tail and the head of the puppet.

Sword1060/42 a-b

Long metal sword (part a) with decorative leather casing (part b). End of sword handle is metal-tipped, has series of red coloured scalloped edges and ends with a green scalloped piece that holds the blade. Beyond the green piece is the sword sheath or casing. Body of casing is shaped by a series of six thin-edged knobs that are spaced with three narrow areas and are decorated with two large centralized shield-like knobs on either side of the sword. Each are decorated with interwoven geometric designs made of black, light-yellow and dark red grasses(?). Attached to the two large central knobs are two brown toggles with two strands of looped black cording. Hanging downwards from the central knobs are two long and wide overlapping leather flaps with spaghetti-thin pieces of leather. The long flaps are decorated with intricately cut and dyed geometric designs, as is the tapered, oval-shaped tip of the swords' sheath.

Dipper1718/34

Oval-shaped dipper with long grey coloured bone handle protruding from one of its sides. The base of the dipper is yellow in colour, the band around its rim and the inside of the dipper are dark brown in colour. The dark-brown portions of the piece are covered with small white coloured hairs that are inherent to seal skin.

Belt1293/2

Coiled light-brown coloured skin belt with beaded embellishments on rim and in centre. Rim has three strands of beaded sections. Beaded sections are in no particular order and consist of blue, white, green, red, and yellow coloured beads. Connected to the beaded rim are half-circle beaded designs that extend to the centre of the belt and are staggered the length of the piece. Each half circle consists of two different coloured beaded sections and near the centre of the belt there is a small metal circle inset into one of the half-circle beaded sections. Two holes in the skin at one end correspond with one long skin cording strap at the other end.

Model Kayak1339/2 a-k

Brown coloured model kayak boat (part a) that widens in the middle and tapers to a point at the front and back end. A human figure (part b) with a grey coloured carved face is wearing a light yellow coloured hooded parka and mittens with red coloured stitching. Attached to the front and back of the boat by three skin bands are the following objects: part c is a white-yellow point that attaches to a large T-shaped skin bag by skin cording; part d is a long blunt bone-tipped spear with thin fibre cording around the wood handle; part e is a long paddle with two wide paddle ends; part f is a large hooked spear with three additional barbs around its handle; part g is a rectangular-shaped knife; part h is a slightly larger rectangular-shaped knife found with the human figure; part i is a long pointed spear; part j is a small hooked spear; part k is a long wood paddle(?) with two indented knobs at its centre.

BasketNa1606

A tall circular brown bark container decorated with dyed quills. The design consists of two flowers with green stems and leaves. One flower is red outlined with purple, and the other flower is purple outlined with red. Both flowers have a brown dot in the centre surrounded by a red five-pointed middle with two brown lines emanating from in between each point. The top and the bottom of the container are overlapped with a strip of bark that has a curved semi-circle pattern facing the centre. The bottom and the top of the container, as well as the sides of the lid, are rimmed with bark strips that are perpendicular to the rim lines. There are strips of soft hide attached to the sides of the container and the lid.

U-shaped light-brown coloured skin pouch with green coloured braided strap and purple coloured side tassels. On the front flap is a central orange, brown, pink and green floral and leaf embroidered design and below, on the front part of the pouch is a central yellow, red, pink, blue and green floral and leaf embroidered design. Off-white coloured stitching lines the outer edges of the pouch flap and body. Inside the pouch is a brown coloured square piece of paper with the following black coloured hand-printed inscription in bold: SMOKED DEER SKIN TOBACCO POUCH SLAVI INDIANS FORT PROVIDENCE.
