The wooden platform (part a) is rectangular in shape with sixteen leather loops for holding the figures in place by their feet. At the front is a wooden pillory held up by four tall posts. There is a large head-hole at centre flanked by two smaller arm-holes between the two hinged horizontal beams (part b) of the pillory. Eight male figures (parts c-l) are dressed in black tunics with off-white ties at waist. Injured figure (part c) is depicted with a bruised and bloodied left eye and swollen and bloody left arm. His pointer finger on his right hand is extended. (Number “6” written on his foot.) Figure (part d) with hat(?) in left hand. (Number “4” written on his foot.) Figure (part e) with staff (part f) in left hand. Figure (part g) with receding hairline and scroll in right hand. (Number “3” written on his foot.) Portrait mask with long black-brown hair, large black eyebrows, carved out eye holes and open mouth. Bird design on right and flame design on left side of the mask. There are four holes on each side on the back for hanging. Hide thong tied through the holes at back. Artist inscription on back.
Baby’s hat or cap. Construction is of four triangular caribou or moose skin pieces, wide at bottom, each coming to a point at top, and sewn together with cotton thread. The front piece is lined with muskrat fur on the exterior. Three flaps with fur on one side are tied up by thongs across the forehead, and can be loosed to fall around the wearer’s ears and neck. Unlined.
Pair of moccasins. Moose leather shoe has a high ankle that can be folded over, and long ties. Cuff is scalloped along edges. Toe is pointed, with toe panel covered in black felt and edged in alternating stripes of light pink and blue created by layering zigzag ribbons. Interior is unlined.
Small purse, or pouch, made of furred squirrel and rabbit skin. Exterior of pouch is constructed with vertical strips of alternating brown squirrel skin and grey rabbit skin, with two strips placed horizontally around neck of bag. Base is flat, made of tough moose skin. Mouth closes with leather thongs. Interior is lined with red with white polka dots cotton fabric.
Pair of men’s moose hide mittens, tied together with a braided wool cord. Mittens are long, with beaver fur edging at cuff and wrist. A panel between the two is made of black felt, embroidered on top surface with bright flowers and vines in red and light blue, with a pink bow. Flowers and foliage in a slightly different pattern have been applied to each hand on the hide, in purple, dark blue and red. The woolen string is made of braided white, blue, green and red strands of wool, with large pompoms. It is attached to each mitten on the inner side at top.
Dog blanket made of black velvet on two joined panels, embroidered with glass beads creating colourful flowers in pink, green, and blue with white and yellow foliage. Flower paste pattern lines can be seen around some of the beading. These panels would hang down the sides of the dog. At centre is an oblong insert of blue felt surrounded by short grey and red wool fringe. At edges of blanket sit longer black and red fringe. Backing is of thick wool fabric, striped, with five panels of leather holding thongs to attach blanket to the wearer.
Large metal dagger formed from a single piece of steel, narrowing at one end to form the handgrip. Grip area is overlaid with copper sheeting on both sides. The finial of the dagger portrays the head of a wolf, with rounded snout and eyes, and U-shaped ears and nostrils. Abalone shell inlay is used for eyes and the four ovoid shapes of the copper overlay. The handle is wrapped with a hide strip. The long end of the strip has a loop for being held over a wrist or thumb.
Round drum from a single skin stretched around a wooden frame. The skin is pulled around the edges of the drum and held together at back with skin thongs. Raven design on surface painted in blue, black and red. Artist inscription and date on the side.
Bone amulet in animal (frog or toad?) form with wide, toothless mouth, large eyes, and forelegs positioned on either side. The back is carved with twelve faces - divided into two groups facing opposite directions of two rows of three faces. Small remnant of a hide cord at one side. Three sides are bordered with a twisted rope design.
