Dance Anklet1057/1

Deer hoof anklet with brown leather band and leather thongs. The two long thongs are attached to the band by two patches, which are sewn onto front edges. There are 20 slits a half a centimeter from the bottom of the band, which are threaded with thongs that are knotted through holes in deer hooves, creating a fringe, which is approximately 8 cm wide.

Drum consisting of hide stretched over a circular wooden frame. Eight wire spokes radiate to the centre, which is wrapped with cloth to create a handle. Traces of red and white paint on the face of the drum. The hide is badly torn in several places.

Long staff, pointed at the top, skinned bare of bark and branches up to 14 in. from the top where a series of 6 branches extend perpendicularly from the staff in all directions. A number of deer hooves and feathers are fastened with thongs and string around the branches. A blue nylon scarf is tied just below.

Wooden staff, or baton, adorned with many deer hooves at the proximal end that rattle. The hooves are threaded with pieces of deer hide which are in turn wound around and tied to the baton. A carved bear head creates a finial above two sets of deer hoof rattles. The remainder of the baton is engraved with various animals designs, which have also been painted.
