Rectangular flat tile, with white slip. Decorated with a semi-circular element containing linear and globular details. A pointed arching element on left side with two parallel lines at each end. Mirror image is represented on the lower half of the tile, creating a circle surrounded by an arch-like element. Black border. Made in a mold. CONDITION: Oxidation on right side, holes at top and bottom center.

This large, classic water jar is in the high shoulder form. The design is brown abstracted forms on white slip, possibly many paired rainbirds.The rim shows evidence of the jar being used as some of the paint has worn off . Often these jars would have hide coverings stretched over them to keep the water pure and cool. Red writing on base reads "X764." Condition: Surface loss on neck

Ashiwi Polychrome Water Jar03.325.4739

This water jar was purchased from the trader Vanderwagon in 1903. This is an example of Ashiwi Polychrome, a style that is ancestral to Zuni Polychrome. The upper portion of the vessel is decorated with a diagonal sweep of red and black feathers alternating with geometic designs.

Bowl (Tetsa) Decorated with Animal and Human Figures03.325.3799

Buff colored pottery bowl with dark red slip figures painted on exterior and interior. Rim is also painted with red slip. Figure painted on the exterior is a large red deer. On the opposite exterior side of the bowl is a small abstract design that may be the artist's signature. Figures representing a man with a headdress (bottom of the bowl), a man with a hat on horseback, and 3 deer (facing right) are painted on the interior in red slip.

Clay pot with overall dark brown and cream-white design except for bottom area which is undecorated cream-white. The Chaco Canyon stepped design decreases as it moves from the lower, bulbous body of the pot to the upper, cylindrical neck, giving the viewer the illusion of greater depth in space. Condition: Excellent

On the bottom half of the tile is a diagonal line with three oblique line designs on each side. Design rendered in black, with black border. An octagonal label with a black border on the verso reads : "From the HOPI VILLAGE 950". Made in a mold. CONDITION: One hole at top center of tile.
