The top of the drum is covered in stretched reptile skin. The rim of the drum base is smaller than the top circumference, and the base tapers inwards from the bottom rim, and then back out wider to the top of the drum.

Large, semicircular handle-shaped protrusion attached at either side of the forehead arcs over a protruding rectangular knob atop the head. Two flat, rectangular "ears" protrude from the sides of the head.

A brown wood mask of two faces in a side-by-side mirror image and crowned by a hornbill(?) pecking in between them. The eyes are cut out. A possible staining technique could have been used to create darker effects.

On rounded ends, side of tray is decorated with single dots. In the middle, the side of the tray is decorated with four square-shaped sections that are separated by black-coloured lines and are patterned with alternating cross-hatched and hatched engraved lines.
