Decorated Gourd2738/4

Elongated oval-shaped rattling gourd with long narrow neck at one end has engraved and painted decoration covering most of surface. Encircling the top and bottom are hearts and geometric designs, as well as a narrative and the artists signature. The storytelling scenes on the main body seem continuous and show figures working in the fields, walking in the mountains, taking part in a wedding, a church ceremony and a funeral, dancing and playing instruments.

Decorated Gourd2738/3

Large round gourd, slightly conical at top, with concave area at base and side, has black and brown stained engraving covering most of surface and dried seeds inside that rattle. Facing towards and encircling a flower at the centre of the upper area, are numerous winged insects. The lower portion has been divided into four bordered areas, each with a depiction of village festivity, such as a bull fight and religious celebration, with musicians, dancing and food.

Rectangular shaped, dark stained, carved feast dish with a deep long bowl and two upright, rounded ends. The sides are rounded horizontally with their edges angled out wider then the base. The surface is detailed with kerfed sections in a variety of angles.

Narrow wood crutch with dark stain. Running down each side is a similar grouping of carvings that starts at the top with a narrow mask with ears, long nose, mouth (one with tongue stuck out), and necklace that turns into the tail of an alligator that faces down to an iguana that is facing upwards. A strip of grass is tied to the tail of one of the alligators.

Wooden, carved figure depicting a chief being lifted by another man, probably a slave. The top figure has a painted face and body, and is wearing a headdring; all are painted red and black with Northwest Coast designs. The position of the body is standing with his right arm raised and his palm open. The left hand is under the other figure's chin. The lower figure is in a crouched position with his left knee bent under and his right knee bent up supporting the right leg of the upper man. The lower figure is holding the other figure's left foot in his left hand and the right is wrapped around the other's leg. The second figure's face has an open mouth and is painted with red and black imagery. (Figure now has its right arm in a raised position.)

Long, wooden club with a oval shaped end that tapers into a thin, cylindrical shaped handle with a flat, circular knob on the end. The handle is sectioned into three by two sets of carved lines. The head of the club is carved, in relief, with a human facial design.

Mask depicting a figure with a humanoid face, curved horns at the top of the head, small ears beside the horns, and a rim around the face with a sarrated edge as well as a pointed beard-like protrusion under the chin incised with lines. An angled, undecorated section with several holes, pointed at the bottom, emerges from behind the face.
