Fertility figure (akuaba) with a flat, disc-shaped head. High oval forehead, curved upraised brows, small horizontal oval eyes with a horizontal slit along the middle, a long vertical nose, and a small mouth at the bottom of the face. The arms are truncated off with small pointed breasts below. The lower half of the body is somewhat cylindrical with a flat back and widens slightly to an oval base at the bottom.
The paint is green, black, blue, red, and white.
This small mask depicts a man wearing a cedar bark headring. He may represent Tseykami, a mythical man usually shown with the cedar bark ornaments of the Tseyka. It is representative of the low-cost souvenir carvings available in many shops. (Holm, Crooked Beak of Heaven, 1972)
Cylindrical dark brown wooden initiation mask that pulls down over the head. Triangular shaped face with pointed chin, small ears, and rounded brow is carved into the front beneath an elaborately ridged hair style or headdress. The face is framed with a band of thin ridges, behind which large thick ridges and a crown ? run back to end in a circle of rounded knobs at the crown of the head. There are cut-outs at the eyes, a large opening at the back, and two bands of punched holes around the base.
Red catlinite pipe head (a) and long wooden stem with squared sides and centre ridges (b). Carved into the medium brown wood of the stem, near one end, is a series of stained brown chevrons, and stained onto it are thick brown chevrons facing the opposite direction. The pipe has a wedged front tip, a stove-pipe like bowl that stands up from near mid-point. Concentric rings are carved near the rim of both the bowl and the end that joins the stem.
Small engraved sugar gourd with lid cut from top in a circular zigzag. Engraved decoration, stained black against the brown, consists of several encircling bands of vegetal spirals and chains, a band showing musicians and villagers dancing, and a band of llamas. The flat bottom is plain.
Small rectangular-shaped shaman's bench with dark geometrical designs on seat surface. Carved from one piece of wood, four thick legs sit on two flat runners and the seat above is slightly concave with the long sides rounded.
Open shallow gourd dish with engraving of colonial style floral motifs covering entire exterior surface. Negative background space is stained dark brown, the positive area is reddish brown.
Elongated gourd with entire exterior surface engraved and stained. The gourd is divided into five bordered sections, one at either end and three along the length of the object. The narrowest end is filled with elaborate floral and heart-shaped spirals, the other end shows a agricultural scene, in the middle are a bullfight scene, a feasting fair scene, and an area of hearts within triangles.
Pear-shaped gourd with slightly conical top has engraving over most of surface and dried seeds inside that rattle. The upper area is filled with encircling bands of spiral, triangular, diamond, floral, heart and cross designs. The lower area shows, in one continuous frieze, villagers and village life.
