The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

A metal spouted bottle (kendi) (part a) with stopper in top (part b) and small stopper in spout (part c). Floral designs with big ornate shapes which alternate between having a bird or an animal inside or being plain all around. Stopper in top (part b) is semi-round with knob at top centre and flat horizontal rim. Small stopper in spout (part c) has flat circular top with flower design and loops at top. Spout is a compressed round shape.
Turned wooded bobbin, plain design. Five glass beads attached to the end with a loop of steel wire: 1 small metallic black; 1 light blue; 1 medium green; 1 brown; 1 tear-shaped medium blue.
Knife (a) with steel blade; facetted wooden handle with brass finial. Sheath (b) of leather lined with wood, with embossed silver at top and tip. Tip has embossed dragon, rocks and waves.
Case consisting of two cylinders of tortoise shell, encased in embossed silver at top and bottom. Knife with handle (part b) of translucent grey-green stone, tapered from top; embossed steel blade (part c) is loose. Pair of bone chopsticks (parts d-e) with silver encased ends and silver knobs at top. Flat ear pick (part f) of bone with silver band near wider end.
Part a is a steel knife with a black coloured cow horn handle. Handle has two sets of four metal bands alternating with three black coloured bands. On the bottom of the knife handle there is a circular piece of metal with two black circle outlines by the edge of the metal circle. Part b is a camel skin sheath that is sewn up one side (with sinew?). Near the opening, on either side of the stitching there are two flaps of extra skin. On the tip there is a cylindrical wrap of skin. There are burnt geometric and linear designs on both sides and top of the sheath.
Short, hooked metal blade set into a short wooden handle.
Knife (part a) with an L-shaped wooden handle, incised at top. Between handle and blade is a metal band which is mostly gold coloured, but silver underneath. The blade is shaped: it begins narrow at the handle end, then extends on one side convexly, narrowing again at the tip to a point. The upper edge of the blade runs to a gentle peak at the centre and then sloping down again to the tip. The scabbard (part b) is made of two pieces pegged and lashed together. On both sides is an incised line, painted black, that starts 2.5 cm from the top and runs the length of the scabbard, terminating in a black triangle. There are 4 dark brown braided bands encircling the scabbard, approx. 5.5 cm apart. (A fifth is missing.)
Knife (part a) with pointed, wavy-edged blade. Blade has three incised perpendicular lines near handle end, with a deep notch cut into the top edge of the blade, as far as the second incised line. The blade is set into the handle at a 45 degree angle. The wooden handle widens out into a horn-like handle shape. The blade is secured into the handle with a stainless steel ring. The scabbard (part b) is made of malacca wood which appears to have many lengthwise dark and light stripes throughout. The scabbard 'throat' is made of the same dark wood as the handle. The area where the two woods join appears to have been broken and glued back together.
Working knife (part a) with wooden scabbard (part b). Blade is an elongated wedge shape, that widens toward the end and is covered with a sticky, oily residue. The top end of the blade angles up toward the handle. The handle is thinner near the blade and is covered in a band of interwoven brass wire near the join. The join area of the blade is covered with a hardened black substance. The handle then widens out and has four ridges carved across the end. The wooden scabbard is made of two halves pegged together and has a floral design carved on the upper side near the top. There are four woven bands of grass encircling the scabbard, as well as a twisted double strand of string. The top end of the blade has a stamped mark in the shape of a tiger with two oblong marks beside it.
Long curved sword with decorated brass handle. Blade shows part of a maker's mark near handle and is largely tarnished with an oily residue near the hilt. Brass hilt is cross-shaped with a design all around handle area and a round, hollow, bowl-like sphere with a small metal protrusion at the very top. The scabbard is dark brown wood with 9 silver bands of various widths around it - the widest at the bottom. All silver bands are covered in floral and geometric designs with twisted coil borders. Most are loose fitting and seem to have folded paper or card stuck underneath to tighten them.
