On the top of the snout and on either side of it are animal hair attachments. The mouth is in the shape of a triangle with teeth carved in relief and a large tongue in the centre. Extending from the top of the face is an arch shape with wing-like designs on either side, both of which have carved scalloped edges. On the underside of the base, an inscription says: "T. Two circular etched dots in the centre of the head form the eyes and two small etched lines on the bird's beak form the nostrils, all of which are light grey in colour. The body of the bird is much wider than the head. The body bulges in the centre and curves down to create the bird's wings and tail flap. Each wing has three indented grooves that taper in from the outer edge, creating a scalloped look. The tail flap is oval in shape and has seven lines engraved onto the soapstone surface which are light grey in colour.
Carving of a loon, with an open tapered beak. The main bird body slopes down from mid-back to form the tail feathers that flare slightly upwards. The base has an indented rim around the entire shape of the bird. Small white-yellow etched dots spread across the bird's back in linear formation. On either side of the bird's body are small white-yellow carved dots, in addition to six diagonal lines to depict the tips of the wings. On the neck, under the beak, and on the breast, are engraved lines.
