Dish3040/40

Oval dish with two bear heads, one at either end. Both heads have slight depressions as if for resting a cigarette on them. Bear faces' have incised eyes, nostrils, and mouths. The heads are attached to the dish via ivory pegs, while the feet of the dish are attached by iron screws.

Rectangular piece of stone onto which has been glued a carving of a snow house with an entrance porch. Beside the house is a dog (part b - previously glued on, no longer attached) with its tail curled onto its back. Incised into the rectangular base is 'Arctic Bay 1951'.

Cribbage Game Board3040/18 a-h

Cribbage board carved from a tusk. The playing surface is divided into six rectangles by an inset piece of black material (baleen?) with four rows of six holes in each. The distal end of the tusk has been carved into the shape of a human fist. The proximal end has four holes for markers and a sliding piece to cover the hole (part b). There are four markers inside (parts c-f). On top of the board, and attached by pegs, are two seals with black eyes and nostrils facing each other. The board has two feet, carved as two bear heads with black eyes and nostrils. The bears are attached to the board by two iron screws each. There are two separate point markers (parts g-h) in addition to, and slightly smaller than, the markers inside.

Carving of a tree with six branches. There are a number of leaves as well as two small birds sitting on two different branches. There is a dog, or fox, with its front paws on the trunk peering up at the birds. The animal has black inset eyes. Sitting on the base is a stone bird. The base of the sculpture is made of wood.

Inkstone3065/16

Inkstone carved from a single piece of speckled yellow and brown stone. Object is rectangular, with four low square feet carved on each bottom corner. Top front has a round shallow well, behind which lay two lions(?), with their bodies facing away from well, heads turned to look back over their shoulders. A second hollow has been carved between their tails. Remnants of decorative lines surround the inkwell area, and nearly invisible incised designs decorate all four edges.

Bi Disk3065/14

Large bi-disk. Disk is thin and flat, with a sustained thickness of material throughout. It is circular but for a large chip out of one side. A large round hole has been carved out of the centre. The disk is undecorated. Its colour is mottled light and medium grey with veins and specks of dark grey.

Model Totem Pole3079/1

Small argillite pole with carved animal figures and human faces. At the base is Bear Mother with twin cubs. The bear has an open mouth and tongue out, clutching two inverted cub faces in its outstretched paws. Above is a killer whale, facing downward, with its tailfins curling back over the top of pole. The back of the pole is smooth and concave. The base is a square of thin argillite.

Carving in green mottled stone of a seal flipper bag. Carving imitates a skin bag, leaning back in a slumped fashion, with a flat bottom. Bag is depicted closed with a drawstring at top, a looped handle standing above this. The lines of a seal’s flipper are carved into the bottom front.
