Cotton pants formed by two panels with crotch inset and a drawstring waist. The bottom of the pants have a cross-stitch decoration of three different horizontal bands alternating with a row of birds. First band has red, blue and yellow geometric design of triangles and diamonds separated by a zigzag line. On top are nine pink frontal birds with profile heads facing left, each bird has floral crown, an octagonal body and a triangular tail. Second band has stylized orange flowers, alternating directions, joined by an angular green line, dark blue line border at top and bottom; yellow profile birds above band has purple outline. Third band has a double row of blue flowers attached by blue stems to a yellow and red ribbon, flowers alternate with red double scrolls, green line border at top and base; purple frontal birds with heads facing to side on right are above band. Red cloth band at hem of each leg.

Form is of graduating in size, having seven 'steps' on each side. Front and back surfaces are flat. Mirror with metal edging and outlined with two and a half rows of black beads at centre front. Small burnt circles outline form. On front, two crossing diagonal lines above mirror, two semi-circular lines below mirror, and a triangle on the base. On back, central line with paired lines curving away on either side. Beads, some loose and others strung together, are pressed into beeswax to form decorations: red and yellow cross above mirror, red and yellow diagonal line below mirror, three black rows below mirror on right, yellow bordered by red on left of base, black and red cross at centre base, five circles down each side, and four circles down centre back. Pink and yellow yarn pulled through hole at centre top, knotted with ends hanging free. Two red and two yellow pompoms on cord wrapped below mirror.

Flat folded bag with cross stitch and woven design; three edges finished in cross knit loop stitch. The central design consists of an eight pointed purple star outlined in pink, the red flower at each point has an angular curled extension. There are four inward pointing orange triangles at centre. Of the four upper corner designs, three are green eight are pointed stars and one is stylized curl design. There are stylized floral patterns in lower corners; on either side of star is a brown woven band then a green and red cross stitch band. The woven shoulder strap has an orange band between brown bands; ends are braided and knotted at apex, opposite ends are stitched to upper corners of bag.

Square flat woven bag with a long woven strap, geometric design done in cross stitch, identical on both sides. Centre design consists of a pink flower with eight points, outlined in blue, four point flowers placed at four points of central flower. The border design has a solid cross-stitch in purple has small clusters of stitches pointing toward central green untwisting ribbon or scroll; cross knit loop stitch at sides and across top. Two separate pieces form strap, ends are twisted and knotted together at apex, opposite ends are sewn to inside at top edge of bag; strap is pink with a continuous line of blue-green forming a geometric pattern on either side.

Small roughly shaped guitar has rectangular head. Five pegs on underside extend through to top, with peg in each corner and at centre. Ends of three horsehair and two metal strings are wrapped around pegs, opposite ends are wrapped and tied around the bridge which is glued to the lower body. Four twisted palm fibre cords are wrapped and knotted around fingerboard. Fingerboard is glued and nailed to neck. Sound hole in centre of body. One strip of wood is bent to form sides, glued to top and bottom of body. Red and blue yarn looped and knotted around fingerboard next to head. Three pompoms attached to top centre of head by braided cord.

Small roughly shaped wooden violin (part a) has scroll-like end, peg-box with four pegs, thin white cord looped and tied around one end of peg-box, fingerboard extending downward from peg-box, four metal strings with one end of each string looped around a peg and the other end passing through a hole in the tail piece, looping over the string and is twisting, on two strings at tail piece are metal circles with short yarn fringe. Small dark brown cleaver-like instrument attached to string on right by thin white cord. Small square piece of wood beneath end of tail piece. Looped and knotted palm fibre cord passes through holes in end of tail piece and around knob glued to bottom back. Two s-curved sound holes cut into sound board on either side of strings between fingerboard and tail piece. Sound board, sides, back and fingerboard are glued together. Bracket (part b) bow has 38 calibre gun shell cartridge at one end, cloth-strip wrapped and tied at end of cartridge, multiple strands of horsehair emerge from cloth and extend down length to pass through hole in opposite end and are knotted.

Teaching LoomSf380

A teaching loom consisting of a partially woven tubular fabric with unwoven threads passing through punctured holes in a rectangle of corrugated cardboard and knotted behind. The pattern is made up of repeated white and blue lozenge pattern on a red ground with green and pink stripes. A pair of red weft yarns extend from the final woven row. A clear, plastic cylindrical shaped bar has been passed through the threads.

Fringe LoomSf1009

A loom with an incomplete textile; the shedding device is a number of narrow sticks with one hole in the centre of each which are lashed together leaving narrow spaces. This is lashed to a longer round stick. The unwoven warps are threaded through the holes and the spaces between sticks. 241 cm of unwoven warp twist together on one side of the shedding device. On the other side is 33 cm of unwoven warp and 304 cm of woven band with fringe like loops extending from one side. The band is speckled grey and the fringes alternate areas of grey with short areas of red, blue, white and green. At the junction of the woven band and unwoven warp, two weft of cross threads are attached to the textile. One is a small grey finger skein and the other is also grey but is wound on the shaft of a wooden spindle with a cone shaped whorl.

Red gathered skirt with a colourful striped waistband and lime green cording on the lower edge. Placket opening at the waist with extensions of waistband as tie closures. One pleat, parallel to hem extends around the skirt. Inside of lower edge is faced with off-white fabric.
