Black, dark red and deep blue patterned head scarf, made of a thin, square synthetic fabric hemmed around the edges. The pattern is divided into four square sections on a black background. Each section has a central dark red circular design with spokes, surrounded by twelve smaller red circular designs. The smaller circular designs that are positioned at the corners of the design contain a deep blue oval inside of white circle at the centre. The square sections are framed by two dark red squares with a repeating pattern of alternating pointed ovals between the squares in deep blue and dark red with a circle in the centre.

Pants3619/1 b

Part of a three piece gbariye (also see 3619/1 a and c). White pants with wide waistline that taper to narrow legs; made up of strips of cloth stitched together along the long edges. Background of strips is white, with silver and dark blue stripes overtop; threads are metallic. Openwork bands, made up of repeating crosses, along lengths of strips at varying distances. Heavy dark grey embroidery around leg openings, and along lower half of outer seam. Designs are an assortment of curvilinear, circular, and geometric motifs; together they form a crown-like pattern. Seam pockets on either side of waist, along front of pants. Small opening at front centre of waistline, for fastening and tightening pants.

Robe3619/1 a

Part of a three piece gbariye (also see 3619/1 b-c). Sleeveless white robe with large arm openings; robe flares out underneath the arms. Robe consists of strips of cloth stitched together along the long edges. Background of strips is white, with silver and dark blue stripes overtop; threads are metallic. Openwork bands, made up of repeating crosses, along lengths of strips at varying distances. Heavy embroidery around neck opening and across chest; done in pink and grey. Circular neck opening, with split, is trimmed with wide border made up of bands of swirls; edges of border are scalloped. Three flower-like designs frame bottom edge of neck opening on front; diamond, made up of swirls, frames bottom edge of neck opening on back. Two slits cut into either side of the chest; surrounded by identical borders and flower-like designs. Interior of robe is unlined.

Hair Tie3486/11

Wasa watana (hair tie) woven in a complementary warp weave. Tassels formed by adding a single intersecting warp band to each end. Small white and silver beads, threaded on the weft before weaving, line the edges of the main band and the intersecting warp bands. Warp fringes. Woven of commercially spun yarn, probably synthetic or a blend.

Skirt Border Belt3486/4

A section of a golon (skirt band) that has been made into a belt by the addition of woven ties. The band has a pattern of diamonds and X’s against a red ground, woven in twill tapestry. The ties are woven in a complementary warp weave in wool yarns.

Coca Bag3486/64

Coca leaf bag (chuspa) with woven strap, tubular woven edgings (ribetes) on seams and edges, and a tasseled fringe on the bottom of the bag. The front face has a diamond in the centre containing four potato flowers (papa tika) surrounded by a jagged diamond and geometric patterns. The back face has a repeating pattern of jagged diamonds. The motifs on both faces are in navy blue on an orange background, with a contrasting vertical band at the centre where the motif is design is worked in pink, green, and red on an off-white and yellow background. Six tiered tassels in magenta, olive green, blue, and off-white are attached to the bottom of the bag. The tubular edging has a diamond pattern in yellow and forest green on one side, and in white and magenta on the other side. A pattern of alternating segments of pink and blue within an light brown border is repeated across the strap.
