Male and female doll attached to a wooden stand. Dolls are made of stuffed white cloth and have painted facial features. Both have black and grey eyes, with white highlights, and thick eyelashes. The female doll has additional pink highlights in her eyes. Both have rosy cheeks and dark brown eyebrows. His eyebrows are thick, hers are curved. Their lips are full and coloured light pink. He has closely cropped hair, with a middle part. Her hair is pulled into a low braid, that hangs down her back, and is secured with a long red tie. The male doll is wearing a light pink jacket, with a matching outer neck facing and a cream inner neck facing. The jacket is tied shut with a large pink ribbon. Overtop he is wearing an open, dark purple vest, with beads along the left side of the opening. He is wearing loose pants, that match his jacket, and black shoes. All of his clothing components are covered in floral embroidery. Done in light pink and dark purple. On his back, the male doll is wearing a bell-shaped, carrying basket for wood. It has braided, plant fibre straps attached to a wooden frame, that rests against his back. The basket, tied to the frame with wire, is woven from white twist ties. His right arm is bent at the elbow and extending outward, palm facing inward. His left arm is wrapped around the shoulders of the female doll. She is wearing a short yellow jacket, with a dark purple outer neck facing and a light pink inner neck facing. The sleeves of her jacket are covered in horizontal bands. Stripes done in white, lavender, pink, teal, red and yellow. The jacket is tied shut with a dark purple ribbon. Underneath, she is wearing a dark purple dress with a wrap skirt. Around her waist, she is wearing a white, gauze-like apron, for holding flowers. Her right arm is holding the bottom corner of the apron, lifting it away from her body. Her left arm is bent at the elbow, with her hand in front of her chest, palm facing inward. Both dolls have their heads turned toward one another, their bodies facing forward. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Her right arm is bent at her side, with her hand curved out in front of her body, palm facing down. Her left arm and wrist are slightly bent, palm facing down, and resting at her side. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Doll representing a woman carrying a baby. Doll is made of brown fabric and has short black hair. Her facial features are stitched on with thread. She has long thin eyebrows, small eyes, a straight nose and smiling mouth. Eyebrows are done in black, eyes are white and black, nose and mouth done in pink. She is wearing a Basotho-style hat, woven out of plant fibre. The hat is conical with a wide circular brim and loop on top. Hat is stitched to head along forehead. She is dressed in a white short sleeve blouse and red skirt. Both items have curvilinear designs across them, done in black. Skirt also has floral motifs and repeating pattern of Basotho-style hats. Skirt has a back opening and a manufacturer’s mark(?) is printed along the bottom edge. Woman has a white, yellow and brown checkered and striped blanket wrapped around her shoulders, secured with a safety pin. Tucked in the blanket, on her back, is a baby covered in a white and green geometric patterned cloth, with a central house design. Baby is made from brown fabric and has small eyes and a smiling mouth stitched on in white thread. Doll is attached to a white metal stand.

Dress3485/1 a-b

Full length dress with long sleeves and a matching scarf (part b). Dress is made out of printed red and yellow cotton. Designs on red cotton are black teardrop shapes with yellow dotted lines. Designs on yellow are dark brown and light orange floral motifs with dots throughout. Front of dress is predominantly red, with two yellow panels extending from the waist down. Bottom edge is trimmed with yellow fabric, bordered by burgundy ribbons with embroidered geometric motifs. Motifs done in white. Back of dress is predominantly made of the yellow textile with two red panels running down the entire length. Sleeves are red and have yellow cuffs. Cuffs are trimmed with burgundy embroidered ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Dress has a square neckline with heavy embroidery around the edges and beneath it, forming a chest piece. Motifs are geometric and floral, with mirrors throughout, done in multiple colours. Beneath chest piece, a burgundy ribbon spans the waist. Burgundy tassels, with white and red beads, hang along the bottom edge. Two panels of sheer black fabric extend from the shoulders to the waist line, framing the chest piece, and hang loosely from there. The panels are trimmed, from the waist down, with burgundy ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Tassels hang from the bottom edges. Semi-sheer red undergarment beneath dress. Dress is unlined and has zippered opening along back. Scarf is rectangular and made of sheer yellow fabric. The left and right sides are trimmed with printed red cotton and large burgundy tassels. Tassels are attached to the scarf with strands of black, silver and red beads.

On the front centre of the jacket is a dark purple circle, bordered with a gold-coloured, scalloped ribbon. The jacket is tied shut with a long, darker pink ribbon. Underneath, she is wearing a loose blue dress that ends just above her ankles. All clothing components are covered in floral embroidery. Done in pink and blue. She has rough, open weave pants and an underskirt on beneath her dress, and plain white shoes. Both arms are bent at the elbow and curve in front of her body, at chest level. Her hands have their palms facing down, overtop of one another. Wooden stand is painted black and has paper labels attached to the base.

Day of the Dead figure. Figure features two skeletons dancing. Two of their hands are clasped together, and the other rests on their partner's back. The skeleton on the left is wearing a floor length silver dress with a tiered skirt. Five-petaled flowers are sculpted into the bottom edge of the skirt. The skeleton's hair is bright pink, and styled into an updo. The skeleton on the right is wearing a white shirt, as well as a black jacket, pants, and tie. The skeleton's hair is white, and covers its eyes. Both skeletons' heads are affixed to their bodies via thin, metal rods.
