Bodice3425/4 a-b

Woven bodice (part a) with embroidered band across top. At centre, there is a white diamond, with the diamond shape radiating out from the centre in black and white sideways V's. Two black fabric shoulder straps are sewn on one end, and pinned in place by safety pins on the back. The upper section of the bodice fastens at the back with metal hook and clasps, leaving the bottom fabric open and drapey. The headband (part b) matches the embroidery on the bodice. It is composed of two pieces of fabric with bilaterally symmetrical designs, stitched together on one end, and attached by three small pieces of black elastic strap on the other. The interior is lined with black fabric. A typed label with the name "Deirdre Parkes" is stitched to the lining of the front, centre.

Headdress3098/4

Rigid fabric headdress, from a Hungarian dance costume. Headdress is made of light blue silk covering a rigid support, peaked at centre top, narrowing at the edges where a strip of thin elastic joins the ends together at back. The outer side has looped patterns made of brown metal thread with flecks of gold. Tubular glass beads make a zigzag pattern along the top edge.

Belt2948/107

Woven belt has ten rows of light and dark sago leaf strips that have been woven over the top of ruddy brown sago fibres, forming diagonal lines. Two criss-crossing braids of these three colours are attached above this, forming diamond shapes. One end is a thick braided loop, the other has three ties: a thicker, longer one in the middle that culminates in a knot and fraying strands (with two rubber bands around it); and two thinner, shorter braids that end in loops.

Large, carved, wooden, raven hamatsa mask with a long beak and an ovoid shaped protrusion for a nose. The beak is hinged with pieces of rubber nailed to either side. The beak is painted black with a red mouth and cutout nostrils. Around the mouth are red U-forms. Along the ridge of the beak are red U-forms on a white background. The protruding eyes are white, outlined in black on a red background; brow is black. Above the brow are two ear-like structures with red painted U-forms. The inside of the mask is hollow with the exception of twine used to open and close the beak. The top has long strips of cedar that hang over the wearer. Intermixed in the fridge are black, raven ? feathers. The mask is painted black, red, and white with Northwest Coast stylized designs.

A pair (parts a-b) of trouser bottoms. Each part is made of vertical fabric pieces of varying patterns and gathered with elastic at the top. The first part (part a) has darker colours consisting of dark blue, dark purple, red, and green. The second part (part b) has brighter colours consisting of blue, green, red, and yellow. Both pieces have an overall leopard pattern background.

Two finger cymbals, one with a finger loop of synthetic elastic cord and one without. Cymbals have small scalloping around edges and two incised bands on flat area; two other incised bands are around domed area at centre. A hole in the centre of the domed area is for finger loops.

Black leather shoes (parts e-f) with a tall, wide heel and a squared toe. The bottoms have a horizontally incised, jagged rubber front sole and a flat back sole that is nailed to the heel. The inside is lined with green fabric and brown leather. There are blue pen markings on the inside heel.
