Two male figures, carved from tooth, grasp a canoe made of horn at either end. Both figures are crouched, and wearing fur-lined hooded parkas, and mittens. Both have finely carved facial features. Figure on left is pushing forward, with their legs behind them; figure on right is tugging, with their legs underneath the canoe. Inscription on the base of the canoe reads: “Made in USSR. T10-117-772.”

Mother Earthworm3690/1

Mother Earthworm figure. Small female figure holding an earthworm in each hand, with their tapering, segmented bodies extending into her mouth. The heads of the earthworms face one another, identical in form but mirrored in appearance. Below the breasts is a small round face on the abdomen, with a long tongue extending out. The figure features inlaid abalone eyes and teeth, and attached hair. Inscribed “TJ 79” on the base.

Carved female figure, sitting and holding a fish. Her fur-lined, hooded coat has engraved bands on the cuffs and bottom edge; decorated with triangles, filled with vertical lines. Similarly patterned bands across her shoulders, and extending down her back. All bands are coloured with dark brown pigment(?). She has long hair drawn back into a round bun. Facial features are finely carved. Fish has concentric circles incised across its body, and its sharp tail wraps around left side of woman. Inscription on base reads: “Made in USSR. CMH-343(?)”.
