Large rectangular basket with a lid (part b). Basket is made of slat construction with a 2 cm indented foot. Decorated with an imbricated downward pointing arrowhead design in black and red cherry bark and a light-coloured grass, three on each long side and one on each short end. Top slat coil has red cherry bark beading and a 2 cm lip. Sides of the lid (part b) have black cherry bark beading and the top has black cherry bark arrowhead imbrication.

BasketNa1168

Rectangular bottomed container with gently expanding walls to an oval rim. The wooden rim is lashed on with spruce root. Four pieces of green-blue cellulose cloth are also woven into the rim. Purple and pink pieces are beaded into the lashing. To make the walls of the container the bark has been folded and stitched along two sides with spruce root. The walls have horizontal scraped decorative patterns with triangles on four of the lines and two lines separating each band--the triangles have faded. On the bottom of the container are two bands of four lines diagonally crossed.

Rectangular, coiled basket with foot and split stitching over slat foundation. Partial loop work on the rim. Bottom has parallel coils and slat foundation. Black beading on the rim and light red-brown beading on the foot. Eight groups of imbricated vertical stripes on the body of the basket in light yellow-brown, light red-brown, and black. The long sides have a central thin red-brown stripe with a wide black stripe that has light yellow-brown rectangles within at either side. The short sides have a thick red-brown stripe.

Round, coiled basket with a foot, a handle (34.5 cm long), and a twined loop work rim. Sides and bottom are split stitches over slat foundation. Handle has bundle foundation. Foot, handle, and row below the loop work rim are beaded in red-brown. Imbricated with geometric designs of three horizontal zig zag rows with black in the middle and red-brown above and below.

Slightly sloping, rectangular, coiled basket with a foot, loop work, and split stitches over the slat foundation. Geometric imbricated design that consists of a vertical row of natural brown diamond shapes outlined by black, dark red-brown, and light yellow-brown zig zags with a black border. Black beading around the foot and dark red-brown along the rim. Handle is 42.3 cm. long and fastened to the basket with cotton.

Rectangular coiled basket, with bifurcated stitches, with handle, split to form rim of basket . Elongated watch-spring construction. Basket has stiff handles, which are formed from the top coils of the basket. The imbricated design consists of two stars on the sides and two geometric designs on ends, in red and dark cherry bark and cat-tail grass? There are two geometric designs at each handle base, all in black, red and light cat-tail grass? Cherry bark beading along top rim and handles.

Duck FigureEd1.281 a-b

Duck with body (a) carved from one piece of wood cut horizontally at right angle at head and tail, growth rings apparent. Wider where it joins with head (b) and tapering at tail. Wing and top of leg are carved on each side. Square hole for neck piece. Rectangular hollow carved out of bottom with a crack at each end. Neck and head are carved from one piece of wood and has round eyes with dot at centre; 2 small holes for nostrils on the top of the beak; beak slightly parted at tip. Neck has rectangular projection which fits into duck body.

Objects strung on a bark cord. Objects include six pieces of animal skin with fur (including one animal leg) each approximately 12 cm. long and one carving of a head. The back of the carving is flat and the top is perforated for string. The carving is made of wood and is rubbed with red ochre. Has a hooked nose, no apparent mouth, and is incised with straight, and curved lines.

Face Painting StampA2473

Face painting stamp carved from one piece of wood with a plain handle, oval in cross-section. The stamp is of a hand with a concentric ovoid palm and four digits curved to one side and tapering to the ends, all carved into a flat surface. The reverse side of the stamp is plain and flat with sloping sides. A hole pierces through the back of the handle from side to side.
