Large rectangular yellow cedar panel, with a centre circular relief carving with painted orange-red primary form lines, black secondary form lines and anatomical features; negative space in and around carving is oiled. Image: two black side bands have frontal orange-red frogs with splayed bodies on either side of head, subtle differences in depiction of each frog. Central image: combines bird and mammal features; top half is frontal mammal's head with double split u ears, heavy bent brows, square-like pupils in pointed eyelid lines, broad flat snout joined to top of continuous lip band, six wide rectangular upper teeth; pointed beak joins bottom lip band, split u nostrils, wings, angled on either side of beak, have identical frontal animalistic faces, beside each face is a three claw foot. Signed at bottom corner on right: Bob/87, the letter D is carved over the letter B. Numerous tiny holes and oil spots along bottom edge.
Loom (part a-g) consisting of a partly woven belt with unwoven warps, attached shedding devices and accompanying wooden and bone tools. The symmetrically striped warp and belt section has three chevron bands flanked by rainbow colour stripes set against a dark red ground. There are cylindrical loom bars at each end; the bottom bar is part c. In the middle are three sticks with string heddles and a shed roll (part b). In addition, there is one stick with a flattened point and another straight (part d), round stick for rolling the cloth (part e). Two small skeins of blue yarn extend from each side of the woven web at the final row. There is a slightly smoothed bone pick (part f) and a length of brown cords (part g) is used to tie the bundle together.
Incised and painted partial profile wolf head; upturned horn-like image at top front of snout; oval nostril with two pointed extensions at side on right; large circular pupil in downturned pointed eyelid lines; front and back tips of brow, remainder broken away, continuous lip band around bared rectangular teeth; at right of mouth is a red semi-circle with two black s curves on either side of a black triangle; vertical curved black line at right of semi-circle has black and red scallop-like design; series of red scallop-like designs continue to end of plank; the impressions of three vertical pointed sticks, which were once nailed to the plank, remain, as does one vertical band at centre; vertical row of nails at edge on right; bottom edge and edge on left are bevelled and painted; edge on right is unfinished and top edge has deteriorated; cracking over surface.
Mask made from cut out planks of wood formed in a triangular-shape with flat sides, a thin adjoining nose piece and rectangular shaped pieces of wood at the back. Detailed in blue, black and red stylized forms is a lightning serpent with a carved snout which is painted black along with the eyebrow and mouth. The large red eyes are outlined in blue. The mouth has red teeth bared. Attached to the top of the mask are long, thin strips of cedar that hang down to cover the head of the wearer. Incised in the inner side is: ‘Clayoquot serpent headdress, J. David, 80’.
Oval, roughly carved face mask with green-brown stain and patchy grey pigment overall. Seal head appendage at top. Dark brown seal has incised eye slits and wide mouth slit. Notches indicate nostrils. Forehead of mask is higher than plane of face. Long, narrow, nose is nailed on with three metal nails. Nose is stained dark brown with red under stain and at bottom, scraped to bare wood at tip. Almond shaped eye holes below sloped lids. Two small holes below nose and downturned mouth hole with black over red lips. A hole on each side has a two strand twine cord tied between. Back is very uneven. Black #12 above #311 on side and faded '26920-2' in white.
Oval, stylized, dark brown human face with triangular nose. Face slopes off on either side and slopes off under nostril holes. Mouth is semi-circular hole, flat along bottom with carved Chinese-style green glass beads nailed just below mouth on either side. Series of pencil ? v's along a line from either side of mouth extending out to sides of mask. Curved pencil lines above almond shaped eye holes. A brittle hide ? strip passes through and is tied at small holes on either side of mask. Strip is knotted at centre. Back surface is smooth except at bevelled areas around holes and nose indentation. Black letters on one side read 'Nesk.20.p' and white numbers at bottom read '23757'.
Dish with oval shape and rounded bottom. Rim flat at top; rim pierced with a hole on one end, and the other end has a hole on the outside that just barely pierces through the rim to the inside.
Rectangular shape with rounded edges; bands of geometric designs cover entire box including the bottom; emphasized with white clay; one end is open and filled with a chalky substance.
Basket (a) is a rounded rectangle, and has a lid (b) which fits completely over base. Basket contains five wooden arrows. Arrows: (part c) five feathers attached to top, shaft wrapped in bands of yellow and green yarn, two feathers near top attached with blue yarn, all feathers hang freely; (part d) six feathers attached to top, light blue yarn wrapped around shaft; (part e) five feathers at top, orange yarn wrapped around upper shaft attaches a rattlesnake tail and a bird claw, one feather attached with red yarn, back shield of thin sticks is woven together with green, pink and blue yarn, also has a round mirror with a plastic frame; (part f) down-like feathers attached to top, green, purple and pink yarn wrapped around shaft in bands, two feathers attached with red yarn; (part g) four feathers attached to top, bands of blue, white and yellow yarn around shaft, gourd medallion with deer(?) shaped in wax has various coloured seed beads applied; (part h) brown feathers attached to top, orange yarn wrapped along upper shaft, two feathers attached with blue yarn.
Small square back shield attached to three sticks. Orange and blue yarn tightly interwoven with bamboo, yarn runs horizontally and bamboo, in seventeen groups of two, run vertically, ends of bamboo are exposed. Blue yarn forms frontal eagle with outstretched wings and head turned sideways, yellow eye. Near top of long vertical four-sided stick, two shorter sticks cross horizontally. Sticks attached to each other on back by cross wrapping green yarn. Shield attached to three sticks by wrapping orange yarn around sticks and through shield, knotted on back. Sticks extend beyond shield. All sticks wrapped in alternating pink and green yarn. Top of centre stick wrapped in pink and yellow-green yarn at topped with a black pompom. Small god's eye on each cross stick, centre is black, then yellow, green and pink, on three points of god's eyes are pompoms.
