OrnamentIe427 a-c

A light brown-coloured elongated oval wood piece carved as human head (part a). Hair protrudes from the top and extends as a point over the forehead. Facial features are in relief. One horizontal step is cut for the eyebrows. The eyelids surround slit-like eyes filled slightly with silver foil(?). The long nose is pierced with knotted raffia. The cheekbones are peaked, and deeply recessed below, are formed by elevated sections resembling a nose form which continues around to the back of the head. The lips are formed by adding two balsa(?) pieces to the mouth. Faint traces of iron oxide, and black, and white paint. Raffia binding passes through pierced holes at the top back of the head. Dark brown wrapped bamboo ring (part b) with fine wicker work is added out from the edge with the ring width tapering in at one point. (One knotted fragment (part c) is separate)

Rod PuppetIb404 a-c

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part c) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. White face positioned downwards: delicate eyes, other facial features outlined in black. Red lips and white teeth. Large curl (gelung supit urang) headdress with diadem and long sumping in black, gold, green, and red. Gold neck and torso; arms have gold and red ornaments at wrist and bicep. Red chest covering and apron, with red trim and green and blue sequins. Apron with yellow frills at bottom, red waistband. Long batik skirt (blue and red on beige). Two pieces of lined paper with handwritten (in pen) inscription 'Abimanyu' glued to headdress and skirt.

Three-dimensional male (king) puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part c) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Head positioned very slightly downwards; white face with pointed nose, red lips, and exposed white teeth. Somewhat large eyes with black irises. Red crown (mahkota) headdress with gold, pink, yellow diadem; yellow and white Garuda Mungkur. Black (short-tongue). Much black hair beneath crown. Neck, upper torso gold; each arm has a pair of ornaments at wrist and bicep in green and red. Hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Black chest covering and red apron with waistband and yellow fringe sewn with sequins and beads. Blue and brown batik skirt.

Heavily outlined, somewhat large white eyes. Black hair, facial details. Large curl (gelung supit urang) headdress in black and green with gold sumping and diadem. Other colours: yellow, white, red. Small single hair curl (kendit). Gold neck and upper torso; arms with green and red ornaments at biceps and wrists. Hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Black chest covering with yellow trim, sequins and beads. Black apron with red waistband, brown wavy trim, sequins and beads. Long batik skirt with drawstring (blue, brown, and beige).

Child's Flat FanEd1.183

A small flat, rectangular fan with two lobes at the top. On a frame of very fine bamboo strips radiating out from the centre of the lower edge where the handle is mounted. Both sides are covered with paper and are lacquered green with a painted black design like a paper cut around near the handle are mounting, enclosing an orange painted design shaped like a half-marquise. Straight wood handle is painted red and split to allow insertion of fan.

Standing wood male figure (ibeji) on round base. Figure has a long trunk and arms on short stocky legs. Arms are at the sides. Has protruding stomach, nipples, buttocks, and genitalia. Large head with facial features in relief of large protruding eyes having incised eyelids. Arranged on each cheek, there are seven incised notches with three at the forehead. Large pierced ears placed far back on head. Earring of strung white shell(?) beads and one jasper disc. Tall pointed four-sided headdress with knob at top is patterned with incised lines, of which the recesses are filled with indigo. Arm on the right has plain silver bracelet. Two strings of dark horn beads at waist. Necklace of blue glass(?). Incising at back of head, spine, and stomach. Carved wood piece with dark brown patina and red camwood paste in areas.

Blowgun of natural light brown wood. Wide metal lance-olate blade lashed to muzzle end with worn braided binding and five sets of rattan. Shaft tapers from mouthpiece to muzzle. 1.1 cm. wide hole at each end. Pith at centre is bored with a very small hole (slightly curved) for darts.

Blowgun of natural dark brown wood. Thin metal lance-olate blade lashed to shaft with four sets of rattan binding, the lowest one of which is wrapped around four times while the middle two are wrapped around twice and the top one is wrapped around multiple times. Muzzle is plugged with pandanus leaves. Shaft widens slightly from muzzle to butt end, where it flares to form mouthpiece. Mouthpiece slightly concave; hole at centre (0.9 cm.) edged with red wax. Pith inside hole with small hole bored through length.

Basket made from a frame composed of two bent branches and several supports with twisted grass woven around them. Square at the mouth tapering towards the base. A grey twisted goat hair rope is secured to one side and serves as a carrying strap.

Wooden, carved bear mask with a long snout painted red and black with white edging and detailing. The muzzle is hinged with a piece of fibre twine on either side. There is twine on the inside of the mask that connects to the jaw allowing it to open and close. The face has blue and black edging and green ovoids around the black eyes on white background. The mask is painted black, blue, green and red.
