A carved wood figure with high upraised bone eyes set in pitch. Ape deity. There is a nose, big pouting lips, and large rounded concave ears. The neck tapers to angled shoulders with the arms resting bent at the elbows so that the hands are curved inward at the front. The figure is sitting in a crouched position.
Comb consisting of two horizontal bars and grass(?) fibre teeth. The fibres are inserted into the top bar, made of bone, and separated from one another with cream-coloured cotton strands; strands are woven into a repeating concentric diamond pattern. Bottom of the weaving is anchored to the second bar, made of wood, which is wrapped in cotton. Teeth extend past the lower bar and are undecorated. Stiff braided ties secure bars together, on either end of weaving; ties wrapped in cotton. Red and yellow feathers inserted into either end of bone bar.
Two trolling fish hooks with bone points lashed on with bark, both have long and flexible shafts made from whalebone. A) has a slightly curved shaft.; Good.These two fishhooks would have been used for catching spring salmon or cod. Level Bag The bird bones from this level bag were loaned to University of Washington Archaeology Graduate Student K. Bovy for research purposes from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004. Although Bovy partially analyzed these bones, she excluded them from her final analysis. The returned bones have been returned to the original level bag.
