Tiffin Box804/4 a-f

Round, five-tiered stacking box with elaborate scenes painted in red, yellow, green and black on the sides. The bottom compartment (part a) has two vertical slats attached at opposite sides; the tops of the slats are joined by a thick horizontal handle with a decorative, rounded centre. Stacked on top of the bottom compartment are three more compartments of similar construction (parts d-f); a round red tray (part c) fits into the top compartment. The lid (part b) has a raised circular handle and is covered with concentric bands of red, yellow and black patterning.

A wood bird with its wings tucked close to its body. Body is mainly dark blue. The dark green wings are decorated with a red starburst shape surrounded by smaller dark blue dots, outlined in red, with a white diagonal off centre, and a red wing tip. The back is decorated with two red dots. The eyes are white with dark blue pupils and outlined with red. Beak slighty open, and outlined with red. Tail is red, decorated with dark blue, and outlined with white and green. Blue legs standing on a circular base.

Drum1379/2

Vertical, cylindrical drum with a concave curve around the bottom half. Six large wooden pegs pierce the sides of the drum, holding the skin over the top in place; skin around the sides is covered in brown fur. Linear patterns are carved around the sides, augmented by brown, painted geometric and linear designs.

Standing wood figure (ibeji) with black beaded waistband. Stylized black hair is slightly oblong, and is accentuated with vertical grooved lines. Three oval grooved marks on the forehead, and on each cheek. Arms are at the sides. Slight breasts, and a naval. Has a blue beaded necklace, and a blue, black, and clear orange-yellow beaded necklace. Its left arm has a string of cowrie shell, and blue, and red beads. Doll has a loin cloth carved with panels and stands straight on a circular pedestal.
