Whistle in the form of a tapering cylinder with closed end and consisting of four separate whistles. Bound round the middle, and was probably also bound around the bottom edge but this has been lost. There are several traces of red paint on the whistle.; Good
A wooden rattle carved in the form of a ?pigeon with a small head, wings and tail. The handle of the rattle is bound with string to keep the two sections together. Inside the rattle small objects can be heard. The bird has been painted blue and black.; Good
Carved and painted wooden figure, the body encrusted with mica flakes. Rests on a pivot which allows it to rotate. The face has been painted with red nostrils and mouth, black eyebrows, and has U-form decorations on the forehead. The hands are also painted red, and are carved with long fingers.; Good
Wooden figure with head threaded with hair. Two projections on soles of feet for standing figure upright on stand. The right arm is moveable and the hand has a hole through it asthough objects were gripped.; Good
Male standing figure with a disproportionately large head and arms clasped to the body. The face has traces of red face paint and red lips. The figure appears to be wearing a hood, or has accentuated hair. The wood has been attacked by wood worm,but has been treated, and one foot has been replaced.; Good
Four hollow rings of woven spruce root joined, one on top of the other, having a hole running through the centre. Each woven ring has a ring of wood inside which gives stability to the sides. The rings have been painted greenish black which to a certain extent conceals their basketwork construction. These rings are the top part of a hat, the rest of the hat is missing.; Good
Painted wooden box, which the catalogue card notes as a fine specimen . The top of the box has operculum shells set in three groups of six. These shells were originally identified as Cariboo teeth but later corrected by Paul Sant Cassia (081986) to be operculum. The box has substantial painting on two sides, and simple enclosed side profile face designs with thin vertical lines following the corners on the other two. The substantial designs are slightly different on each side, one having black cross-hatching. The designs have thin formlines supported by red secondary lines which are distanced and positioned to give the painting an overall lightness.; Good
The catalogue card contains information presumably acquired by McIlwraith at the time of collection in Bella Coola. Painted wooden mask with dyed bark hair (red) representing a combination of eagle, the hooked beak and ravens. The mask has two raven heads on the temples and their beaks stretch across the forehead to a bundle of cedar bark. The eyebrows are thin and taper almost to the jawline. The eyes are pierced and the nose very prominently hooked, painted blue and has flared red nostrils. The mouth is closed and painted red, but is accentuated by a white border. The chin is large and painted, together with the cheeks, with green, red and white U-forms.; Good
Large heavy almost conical mask painted and carved in the form of a bear or an otter with hinged jaw and inset teeth. The creature has round eyes circled by green, brown and white. The rounded snout has a red nose with curling nostrils, surrounded by a ring of holes that possibly once held whiskers. The lips are painted red, and the lower jaw is attached with a piece of leather. The lower jaw can be moved by a piece of leather running through a groove on the inside top surface of the mask. The bear or otter has very small ears pressed back against its head, giving the creature a very ferocious appearance.; Good
A human mask carved in wood with an open prognathic mouth set with operculum shell teeth. The mask has prominent black eyebrows, large black eyes, a small slightly flared nose and an open oval mouth with four teeth. The mask has a face-painting design on its surface which is composed of a band of intersecting diamonds across the nose and under the eyes, the eyes and chin are surrounded by pale blue. The ears are stylised and painted red. The inside of the mask is also painted with a red band of linked triangles at the upper edge.; Good
