House Screen BoardA6558 b

A long rectangular cedar plank with faded Northwest Coast designs imprinted in the surface of the wood; some red paint is visible towards one end. Longitudinal splits run from both ends. Many holes through the plank. Underside is covered with uniform chisel marks, longitudinal gouges and black patches.

Fertility Figure771/52

Fertility figure (akuaba) with a flat, disc-shaped head. High oval forehead, curved upraised brows, horizontal semi-oval eyes, a long vertical nose, and a small mouth at the bottom of the face. Rings are carved around the neck. The horizontal rectangular arms are outstretched to the sides with small pointed breasts below. The lower half of the body is cylindrical and ends with a base at the bottom. Red, green, brown, blue, and yellow beaded strings adorn the figure at the top, and a turquise, pink, white, and yellow beaded string adorns the bottom. The figure is attached to a black painted stand with a metal nail. The stand has red velvety material on the bottom.

Black coloured oval-shaped mask with two curved and tapered down turned horns. The face has carved and scalloped geometric designs on forehead, thinly carved vertical line from forehead down to eyebrow ridge, thinly carved eyebrow ridges, a wider nose ridge with small defined nostrils, red coloured eyelids, small slits for eyes, and small red lips. Jagged triangular-shaped edge on the perimeter of face.

Brown, wooden handle topped by a large, elliptical-shaped face with a pointed head and chin. Carved from a single piece of wood, the face is much larger than the width of the handle and gives the impression of being mounted upon a pole. Face is mask-like, painted with faded white, black and red paint, has round black eyes and an open mouth bridged by wood running from the nose to the chin. Entire object is permanently attached by a screw to a black metal stand with a square base. Initials "SP" are inscribed on the reverse in white.

A dark brown headpiece with a long curved nose. Atop the headpiece there protrudes forward a long flat curved piece with a fin-like ridge. Along the curved sides of the headpiece and the sides of the protruding long flat curved piece there is a red-brown and grey-white triangular geometric pattern. Holes have been made along the bottom of the headpiece.

A carved black face mask with two horns that protrude upward and curve concavely. The rounded eyes are carved with slits. The oval mouth with teeth gently protrudes outward. At each side there protrudes, from top to bottom, a vertical rectangle with two sets of four horizontal lines, a knob, and a "leg" which points downward.

Knife984/13 b

A long curved-tipped metal knife with three metal rings on top and two metal rings on the bottom, equally spaced, dangling a flat metal heart-shaped piece. There is another metal ring on the bottom near the tip end. The rounded wood handle is painted red with a circular knob at the end from which dangles a metal ring. There are three flat metal circles of gradually diminishing sizes with rimmed with dots that are in between the handle and the blade.
