Model Totem Pole1432/10

Brightly painted brown, black, white, yellow, red and green model totem pole. From top to bottom, figures are: an eagle, a frog, a whale, and a bear with a human figure in front of it. The whale and bear both have eyes inlaid with abalone. Entire figure is mounted on a yellow, square piece of wood.

Large, wood, rectangular shaped shield with rounded corners. The surface is painted with the union jack flag. The underside is concaved and has a fibre handle consisting of many pieces of braided rope wrapped together with a piece of cotton fabric. Along one of the sides is an electrical cord, cut and tied into a knot at either end. Adhered to one of the corners is a flattened red and yellow tin can that reads: ‘Globe, Drippings, Product of Australia’. Covering almost half of the back is a nailed, large piece of metal. There are large cracks through the shield that have been repaired with adhesive, metal ties that protrude from the surface.

Pole has many figures depicted on the front and sides, is topped by a bird with spread wings, and has several pieces protruding from the front. Two figures have inlaid abalone eyes, one of which also has an abalone labret. Entire figure is mounted on a square piece of wood.
