Frontlet Headdress687/1

Headdress with a frontlet of red painted wood inlaid around three edges with coppers and abalone. In the centre of frontlet is a human figure, elbows resting on knees with hands held up, palms outward; figure has inlaid abalone for eyes and teeth. Frontlet is attached to a white fur hat which, in turn, is attached to a long train (80 cm le) of off-white ermine skins, backed by red cotton. The ermine tails--the tips of which are dark brown--each have a red strip of cotton tied to them.

Mask685/2

Portrait mask. Light brown wooden human face mask with a tuft of sheep's wool and four eagle feathers affixed to the centre of the forehead. Black elongated eyebrows run to the mask's edge. An l-shaped band of green paint runs down one side of the face and across the eyes and bridge of the nose. A curving band of red-brown colour runs beneath the green band and covers one side of the face and the nose; the same colour is applied in short, repeated strokes above the opposite eye.

Pook-ubs mask. Mask has human-like face with deep contours, round eyes, long protruding mouth, very bushy fur eyebrows and course black hair inserted along the top of the head. Red and white paint rubbed into red cedar.

Mask1110/1

Red oval-shaped portrait mask with long bushy dark-brown and black hair. Face has rectangular checkered designs on forehead, length of nose, side of eyes, cheeks, and chin. Eyes are oval-shaped, are cut-out and are outlined with carved grooves. Mouth is oblong in shape, is slightly open and has ten teeth on the top and bottom rows. Woven netting is looped around nine holes on the perimeter of the jaw and chin and extends to the back of the head and under the hair.

Bush Cow Mask1373/11

Wooden carved and painted bush cow mask. Large, protruding, triangular snout; two raised, round eyes; two large horns that curve inwards on top; and two smaller ears that taper to a sharp point behind the horns. Mask has thick band around its perimeter with a line of evenly spaced holes. Decorated with black and white geometric designs, with thin reddish line; inside of snout and ears also painted red.

Kentongan drum or slit gong made from carved and painted wood in a gourd like shape with an elongated cylindrical body with a rounded bottom. The top has a semi-circular ridge with a hole drilled through for hanging. The surface is detailed with a stylized geometric design in white and orange on a natural ground. Through the middle of the gourd is a slit opening that leads to a hollow interior.

Indonesian slit gong or Kentongan wood drum carved with a slight bulbous shape. The top is flat with a semi-circular handle with a cylindrical shaped stick running through that has a carved snake head on each end; bottom is rounded. The sides are carved in relief with a stylized geometric design of triangles, semi-circles, circles and diagonal lines; painted orange, yellow and brown. Through the middle of the body is a large slit opening that leads to a hollow interior; opening is lined with a band of triangles. There is a hole drilled through the top for hanging.
