Mourner mask. White face mask, with elongated oval face. Two red coloured marks on each cheek. Three evenly spaced thin red lines next to each eye, toward the outside of the face. Nostrils and lips are red. Hair and eyebrow ridges are black. Cut-out eyes are outlined in black.
Mask that has been carved on a forward slant, giving it an angular appearance. The mask is painted white with pursed red lips, a hooked nose with red nostrils, and semi-circular eyes. Two half crescents raised on each side of cheeks are painted black. Tufts of cedar bark fringe are attached at the sides and longer strands of cedar bark extend down the back of the mask below the chin. Off-white feathers protrude upwards from the top of the head.
Skull-shaped figure with recessed eye sockets and without a bottom jaw. There are five metal nails in the bottom, and one at the top of the forehead. A length of braided cotton string is attached vertically to the back of the skull with two metal staples, one at either end. A strand of cotton string is attached horizontally across the back of the skull with two metal staples, one at either end.
Headdress with bird's head in relief. Two smaller three-dimensional faces, one on top and one below. Border and eyes have abalone inlay. Colours used are mainly black and red, with traces of blue.
Head ring consisting of a circular frame of thin strips of red cedar wrapped around a red cotton ring.
Rectangular black velvet robe with a border on three sides of diagonal checker work woven cedar bark. Eleven carved wooden skulls are tied on to the robe at intervals through small holes drilled in the top of the skulls. Clumps of shredded cedar bark are also attached.
Elbow adze greenstone (nephrite?) blade rectangular in shape with a bi-facially bevelled and curved bit. Lashed with hide strips to a carved wooden hafting platform with an acutely-angled branch providing a handle.
Mask (c) with a hooked nose, curved incised lines on the cheeks and chin, and two rounded ear-like protrusions at the sides of the mask. The mask is painted grey with heavy black eyebrows and black on the raised areas of the cheeks and chin. The nostrils and lips are red, and the ears are painted with concentric curved lines in black, grey and red. Horse hair and cedar bark attached at top of crown. Two separate mouthpieces: a) red lips open to expose two rows of off-white teeth; b) thick red lips, slightly open.
Carved transformation mask. The exterior figure is a large thunderbird head with a yellow beak, black outlined eyes surrounded by a green ovoid-like shaped, as well as a red mouth and detailing. Nailed to the top of the bird are numerous cedar bundles. The mask opens in four directions – to the sides, up and down – exposing a painted human face with cutout nostrils, eyes and mouth. The side boards have a painted sisiutl with each side depicting a serpent head. The top has the human’s horns while the bottom open board is detailed with ovoids, U’s and split U’s. Twine cord attaches to all four sides to assist the mask in opening and shutting. The opened boards are hinged with leather and attached by staples. The mask is painted yellow, green, red, white and black with Northwest Coast stylized designs. Long, rectangular shaped handle extends from top back of mask.
Brown double reed whistle that is square in cross section and comes to a tapering end and is bound in brown twine around the tapering end. While the wider end is solid, there are two hollows through the smaller end where there is a bordered taper cut semi-oval hole nearby on one side and a bordered taper cut square hole on the opposite side. Pine pitch along the sides.
