Cube-shaped lantern with paper on a wooden frame (part a). Top is open and has handle attached to it. Side has one sliding panel. A cover (part b) with carved motifs of the sun and moon slides directly over lantern to block out excess light. Lantern: ecru-coloured paper and red lacquer with a black base. Cover: black lacquer. Label reads "Made in Japan."

Sake ContainerN2.1081 a-c

Sake container (a) with tapering cylinder shape and two arms that protrude upwards that are joined by a crossbar that acts as a handle. The container is also held together with four bands of twisted bamboo, two at the top edge, and two at the base. A stopper (b), also a tapering cylinder, fits into a hole in the the lid (part c). Reddish-brown finish overall.

Sake container (a) with a cylindrical shape that tapers slightly from top to base and two protruding arms that are joined with a crossbar for a handle. Six twisted bamboo bands secure the staves, two near the top and four at the bottom. The top (c) has a stopper (b) that fits into a hole near the edge. Stained reddish-brown with black painted Japanese characters on the outside of each arm. Painted with a red band across the top. The base (d) is loose in the container.
