Basket3103/14

Woven basket with high walls and wide mouth. Imbricated designs consist of two pairs and a single ring circling the basket at the rim, midpoint, and above base. Rim and base are woven with alternating light brown and golden brown strands. Ends of basket's frame poke out around rim.

Large woven urn shaped basket. Short narrow neck opens out to a large round body, that then tapers to a flat round base. Two loops placed on the same side of basket form small handles. A fibre loop is tied around one handle.

Woven tray-like basket with flat oval base and short curved walls. Four diagonal lines of squares connect dark brown rim to base. Four dark brown geometric stars are set in between the lines. Two rings, one of solid dark brown and one alternating light and dark brown, circle the base.

Multi-component whale bone carving. A large, flat slab of bone (part a) serves as the base of the sculpture, with several small holes bored into the top. The holes hold short, fine, bone or wood pegs (parts f to k) which serve as the legs of four small carved birds (parts b to e) that stand atop the base. All the birds hold their wings on their backs, their eyes are small bored holes painted black or filled with a black substance, and one has an open beak.

Small stone carving of a seated figure. A woman sits on a stool, hidden by the long rear flap of her parka, booted feet slightly outstretched in front of her. The garment's hood is pulled up, but the finely carved face is fully visible. Her shoulders are broad, and her hands are placed on her knees, the left hand is holding a wooden utensil.

Soapstone carving of a bird caught in a trap beside its nest. The small bird is carved from dark grey soapstone. It is hunched over two oblong eggs sitting in a hollow in the stone. Around the bird's neck is a thin brown string tied to one of three stakes to either side. The base of the object has yellow paper adhered to it, with the artist name written in ink, an inventory number, and a stamp that says "Eskimo Craft Camsell Hospital Edmonton".
