Erhu-like two-stringed wooden instrument with a sound box (part b) made from half a coconut shell and two drop-shaped tuning pegs (strings and membrane are missing). Wooden bow (part c) is strung with coarse hair. Underside of sound box is pierced with a simple design.

Dark blue-black carving of a rhinocerous hornbill, with a large, mint green beak. Elaborate crest on the head with a spiral pattern on top and a floral motif on the back. Wings and tail are dark blue-black, orange-pink, dark and mint green, and yellow accented with gold. Legs bend backward and then horizontally, straight, outward with the yellow claws holding onto a bar.

Light brown basketry tray with cedar slat foundation and cedar root coiled rows, and a handle at either end. Decorated with beading in grass and red and black cherry bark. Design consists of alternating red and black chevrons on a light yellow-brown background. Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches); parallel slat construction. Braided loop work border and reinforcement at the sides.

Painted wooden mask with a humanistic white face and black head covering. Facial features are painted: the thick frowning lips are red; protruding nose (with the tip nailed on) is blue; the areas surrounding the eyes and cheeks are also blue, with a downward point. The eyes themselves are white, outlined in black, with round black centres, and black eyebrows. On both sides of the head protruding metal discs have been nailed on, near the top. There are two holes in the wood at the top of the head covering, with a strip of wood between.

Transformation MaskA7968

Transformation mask or headdress made from cut out planks of wood formed into a triangular-shape. Flat sides with a thin adjoining nose piece and two rectangular shaped pieces of wood at the back. Detailed in blue, black, yellow, white, green and red stylized forms. The creature on the outside (possibly a lightning serpent?) has large black eyes outlined in yellow, rectangular shaped ears and white bared teeth. The mask opens to reveal a thunderbird inside, with a large white articulated beak, black eyes and a red and black head. There are numerous feathers attached to a thin metal strip; three strips line the top and back of the mask. Inside has a curved flat metal piece used to hold the mask onto a head.
