Reliquary for Salazar2956/157 a-c

Assemblage piece: wooden carved figure wearing a hat (part b) and decorated eye glasses (part c). The figure has a long wide face with a long protruding nose and white teeth, and stands with long thin legs on a wooden base. The glasses, incised and painted in multicoloured designs, are held on by the figure's protruding ears. The hat is black felt with a curving brim and has a brown paper label taped to the front and sides which reads: "Chapeu que foi? de Salazar não há brincadeira".

The figure wears a headdress with flower above his head, a small cross with glitter design on front, and is standing on a large double base. Crucifixion Figure2956/150

Wooden crucifix. Christ is shown with a green crown, a cloth around his hips with a glittery design and a leather halo above his head. The base has a glass mosaic design and there is a wide wooden leg at the back to hold the figure upright. “I.N.R.I” is carved on a plaque above. A metal bottle opener was added to the top as a hook.

Wooden crucifix on a standing base. Christ has a leather halo above his head and a cloth around his hips. The crucifix has a large base with six feet and a pattern of gold squares and dots painted around it. "I.N.R.I" is painted at the top.

Comb2948/128

A rectangular comb with teeth about half the length of the whole. Five teeth are extant, a sixth, middle tooth, has broken off. The other end is slightly thicker with a narrow ridge between it and the main body and narrows to a broad, rounded tip. (A few strands of short, curly hair remain in the teeth.)

Comb2948/126

Concave bamboo comb with ten long teeth and rounded edges on the handle. On the outside a shallow ridge marks the handle, which is a tan colour, and the teeth which are a darker, ruddy-brown, having had the outer layer of the bamboo shaved off. The inner layers have also been shaved off of the teeth. Marks of manufacture are extant.

A rectangular comb with eight teeth about half of its length. The roughly carved shaft has rounded edges. A few short, curly hairs remain at the base of a few teeth.
