Silver and wood cup made of an orange wood, heavily lacquered to a high shine. Body is squat and round with a slightly flared lip, fully lined on the interior and rim with silver. The foot is surrounded by a silver ring that has been heavily carved with linear details.

Metal alloy spoon with turquoise stone. Spoon has a wide, shallow bowl slightly raised at centre. Handle is densely carved, with vertical lines interrupted by a rounded panel holding a smooth turquoise stone at centre. At handle’s top is a wide panel in a rounded triangle showing a face withpointed ears, teeth bared, hands clenched beneath. Back of spoon is undecorated.

Container3174/4 a-b

Hoof container with wooden stopper. Small, shiny black vessel is wide at bottom with a fitted oval of wood at base, thin on the side-view, narrowing irregularly toward mouth. Container tilts slightly to one side. Lid (part b) is made of a thin oval of wood that sits inset in the container mouth, and has a small strip of leather as a handle. Handle is threaded through a hole bored in the wood near centre.

Purse3174/1

Small flint purse. Pouch is stiff leather, with a front flap outlined in decorative convex metal squares that surround three protruding decorations, two of which hold a turquoise stone. The flap covers an interior pocket meant to hold kindling or flint. At bottom of purse is a thick, curved, steel flint-striking platform inset with gold floral motifs. Top of purse is edged in metal with a squared loop holding a leather thong which would enable the flint purse to be hooked to a belt.

Headdress3168/1 a-b

Geru board, or headdress. Made of thin plywood in a large diamond shape at centre, with a partial circle at top, and to the sides two ‘arms’ branching off at angles both upwards and down, separated by a small triangle. The board is painted red, blue and yellow mainly in triangle and diamond shapes, with front similar but more complex than back. At bottom is a headpiece lined with red cotton fabric, and topped by a synthetic orange material. Two wooden handles are attached to the bottom of the headpiece and wrapped with plant fibre. Part b is a plywood piece that has broken off one side of the headdress.

Figure of an old woman. She stands with her head thrust forward, arms tucked away, and the handle of a large carrying basket looped across her shoulders to where the container rests on her back. Face is wide, features carved, with incised hair that falls down her back in a thick braid. She has a shawl over her shoulders that falls to points at her sides, over a dress with a slightly flaring hem. Figure is carved with large bare feet.

Carved wooden figure with halo. A male figure stands with arms crossed in front of his chest as if cold, left knee bent before him. The face is finely carved, with eyes downcast, a thin protruding nose, small mouth in a pointed jaw, and an incised beard. Ears protrude. Hair is in a tonsured style, with a tuft on forehead. He wears a long belted robe with a wide collar that drapes down the back. A tin ring has been nailed to the back of the carving to represent a halo.

Carved wooden figure, likely of St. Francis of Assisi. A male figure stands with hands clasped before him, holding a small bird. Birds also sit on his shoulders and on the top of his head. Nose and ears protrude while eyes, mouth, and beard are incised. He wears a long belted robe decorated with incised diamond shaped motifs. A carved hood falls over his shoulders at back, below an incised hair line. Large bare feet emerge from beneath his robe. Birds and feet are attached to the figure by wooden pegs.

Female doll carved from wood, with arms articulated at the shoulders, and legs at the hips. Head is large, with carved facial features and ears, eyes and cheeks emphasized with paint. She wears a long brown cotton dress covered by a green and blue apron, with a knit brown and red shawl around her shoulders. A large metal pendant hangs from the tied closure of the shawl at her neck. Meal earrings are attached through holes in her lobes, and around her head is a metal link band decorated at front with a fabric bow. Wispy brown hair is attached to a black cap covering her head.

Male doll wearing brown wool pants with gold and green panels at back, a heavy dark blue wool sweater, a rectangular multicoloured textile in shades of red and green at the shoulders, and a light coloured bandana tied around his neck. His hat fits close to the head, with the brim flipped up in front to show a zigzag ribbon decoration and small pompoms. At crown is a tuft of metallic thread atop further ribbon and flat pompom decorations. Long decorative flaps trail down his back to the waist, brightly embroidered with figures, diamond shapes, and sequins stars, on a light cream background. A wide leather belt or pouch decorated with studs is buckled around the waist. He holds a wooden drumstick in his right hand. His shoes are small wood and leather sandals. His face is painted, showing large brown eyes, rosy cheeks, a red mouth and a dark moustache.
