Beadwork3239/15 a-c

A set of 1 leaf-shaped and 2 round appliques, beaded. Parts ‘a’ and ‘b’ are roundels, fully beaded at centre in concentric circles of blue, yellow, pink, and white, with part ‘a’ also having a circle of green. Backing is undyed canvas. Around the beading are pieces of notched felt in red and black, featuring a line of white buttons. Part ‘c’ is of similar construction, with concentric drop shapes beaded in colours of yellow, blue, white and pink, surrounded by black notched felt that also features white buttons.

Pair of beaded leggings. Backing is red felt, with an edging of tan canvas. A pink boarder containing a stripe of yellow and blue frames the legging, surrounding three vertical stripes of white with a similar blue and yellow stripe, edged with green. Metal snap components sit at each corner. Leggings rectangular, slightly wider at top.

Beadwork3239/16 a-e

Five beaded appliques. Parts ‘a’ to ‘c’ are flowers, possibly tulips, with a stem and two leaves emerging from a cone shaped base. Colours are white with blue and yellow. Part ‘d’ is a similar flower, attached to a long line of white horizontal beading. Part ‘e’ is simply a line of white beading. All appliques are backed by red felt and have been cut off a garment.

Woman's Belt3080/41

Belt. Textile is made of thin cotton, now tan in colour, heavily embroidered along its length in red and blue wool thread. Vertical lines start widely spaced and move closer until it is one continuous pattern of alternating colours in triangle, diamond, linear and X-shaped motifs. Opposite end holds strands of long, light tan coloured fringe.

Pipe3239/10 a-b

White ceramic pipe bowl (part a) with a partly handmade wooden stem (part b). Outside of bowl is oblong and upright, painted on front with a green and brown scene of a buck walking through a forest. The bowl sits inside one arm of the ceramic double shank, with the thin wooden stem emerging from the other. Bit and lip appear to be made from a plastic-like material (possibly added later). A thin tie of twisted wool in green and tan is attached where bowl meets shank.

Open-work, rectangular textile. Fine white thread has been twisted to create a mesh grid, with patterning appllied by in-filling squares of the mesh across large areas. Patterns include lines, zigzags, collections of squares, and key patterns. What remains of the edges has been finished.
