The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Mother with face and torso of skin, arms of cotton, black braids, and facial features embroidered with black thread. Wearing parka, white cotton with yellow and red trim, brown fur around hood. Sealskin pants and boots. Child inside parka on back has skin body, cotton head with embroidered features, and navy blue skin hood.
Blanket formed by a rectangular woven textile with a short fringe at each end and a pattern of evenly spaced white spots on a black ground.
Jacket, pull-over, in dark brown wool. Small fringes border the bottom edges. The jacket has long sleeves, a pocket at the lower right, and a slit-front neck opening with a collar.
Hat with brim of black lambs wool. A coarse brown woven wool cloth lining gives the hat its form. Over this is sewn a blue silk-like fabric with a darker blue overall pattern and circular gold Chinese designs. A band of black lambs wool 10 cm wide is sewn on the inside and is turned up with peaks at the ears. Across the front, the 3 cm wide band of black lamb skin is sewn on with two bands of bright green and pink binding.
Woman’s unlined, untanned goat hide cape (raw hide on one side, and coarse, long, off-white, slightly wavy hair on the reverse side). The body of the cape is roughly U-shaped, with unfinished edges; on each side edge, the cape is pieced with small rectangular strips. The top edge of the cape is slightly curved, and a triangular flap of goat hide is attached at each upper corner. A length of brown braided cord connects the two flaps, and there is a piece of twisted brown and off-white wool fibre loosely looped over this cord. On the hide side, three narrow strips of hide are sewn to the top edge, with the hair side facing outward.
A long length of alternately woven brown and beige wool consisting mainly of a rope that is round in cross-section. A wider pouch-like section has been woven in approximately half-way through its length. One end of the rope has a loop woven in while the other is frayed and appears to have had a loop ripped off.
The head cloth is long and narrow with a geometric pattern and long fringe. The pattern shows the same bipedal figure repeated six times in shades of brown, red, yellow and green. At both ends there is a band of diamonds in a diagonal pattern, followed by a section of tightly woven rows leading to a long multi-coloured fringe.
Complete loom width of dark yellow, weft-faced weaving with tapestry borders of interlocking spirals in red and dark yellow. Tapestry bands with feather motifs in red and two shades of yellow are sewn to both ends, next to the spirals. Fragments of seaming thread indicate the piece was folded transversely, and seamed together.
One complete panel of tie-dyed 'patchwork' tunic. Step triangles, dyed in red, green, and three shades of blue are arranged in radially symmetrical patterns. All colours have resist-dyed designs of small and large circles and bars. The colours line up in diagonal rows. Warp and weft selvedges are almost intact.
Long narrow band of red-brown bast fibre. Braided areas alternate with tapestry woven step blocks and step frets in red, green and yellow alpaca yarns. The dark outlining of the tapestry designs is almost completely deteriorated. The braided areas are three part. Part a is the large braided band, part b is a brown braided fragment, and c is a smaller brown braided fragment. The band is broken and very fragile.
