Doll2998/12

A small, stuffed cotton doll, clothed in a white, long-sleeved shirt, with attached full length skirt. The shirt has a pink and blue wool stitched design on the front, and purple cotton stitching around the sleeves. Pink cotton stitching runs up the back. The skirt features a vertical stripe design, of black, blue, purple, red, orange, yellow and green stripes, and is hemmed with white lace. The face features two dark brown circular eyes, a pale pink triangular shaped nose, and a red mouth, all of which are of another material, perhaps felt, that has been adhered to the cotton face. The doll has black wool for hair, styled in two braids, interwoven and tied off with pink and green ribbons. The doll has two buttons sewn on at either side of the hip under the skirt, a dark brown one on the proper right, and a smaller white one on the proper left.

Shirt2998/8

Square woven top with fringed bottom edge and a vertical slit for neck opening at the top. Neck opening is lined with orange fabric. Top is one piece, folded over to create two panels. There are eight tassels, four on each side, tying the closed sides. Tassels are multi-coloured and fringe at the bottom is pink. Edges are stitched in a multi-coloured design. There are 3 lines along the bottom, 2 pink and a brown one in the middle.

Poncho2998/7

Large black poncho with half sleeves. Square neck opening with tan stitching bordering the collar. Bottom back edge of poncho has twisted wool fringe. There are slits in the seam under sleeve on both sides.

Patterned, woven, rectangular mat with a square weave in a tight checkered pattern of natural and dyed brown grass in its centre. Long-side borders are made of the undyed grass only, which tighten into a herringbone pattern at edges. A looped fringe of alternating groups of black and yellow yarn is woven into all four edges. The backside of the mat is monotone.

Rattle2955/52

Rattle shows five people (angels?) dressed in white robes cinched with red wool belts. Two also wear woolen skirts in red, blue, green, and white stripes with a shoulder sash. Each figure has short brown hair with a blue ribbon, a pink face, and stitched-on features in black thread. Each is connected to a small, round, two piece, unpainted wooden clapper. Bottle caps are attached to the bottom of the rattle’s cross shaped platform in pairs. The long handle protrudes from the bottom of the platform and is made of wood and metal, decorated with plastic tape in red and white.

Bag3018/1

Red felt bag with a long fringe. The bag is round at bottom, with straight sides and top, and a long handle. Handle and felt embellishments on bag are in black felt. On the front are four 6-petal flowers made from moose hair tufting, dyed red, purple and yellow and interspersed with green leaves of the same material. A strand of twisted grey hair makes a circle under the flowers and leaves. On the bag’s edges is sewn a thick fringe of deer skin. The interior of the bag is lined with cotton in a small floral pattern. The closure sits at the centre of the bag’s opening, and is a strip of black felt with a metal snap.
