Leggings1744/3 a-b

Leggings, (a) and (b), are each somewhat rectangular shaped, of black cloth with five vertical bands of decoration sewn (alternating with black background). From top to bottom: a row of red fringes, a row of white rickrack, a band of crocheted light green, dark blue and red-brown zigzag, a band of gold metal rickrack sewn as a large horizontal zigzag, and a row of white fringe at the bottom. The bottom fringe on (a) is shiny and close-looped. The bottom fringe on (b) is dull white and open ended. Both (a) and (b) have three white ties sewn on both vertical edges (near top, at centre and near bottom) for a total of six white ties per legging.

Button Blanket1768/93

Button blanket made of black wool with a red stroud wool border along the top and sides and an applique bear design flanked by two Wasgo-like figures in red wool filling the central area. The design is accentuated with off-white shell and plastic buttons. Two buttons and loops are attached to each side of the centre top.

Button Blanket1744/1

Ceremonial button blanket of black felt in a rectangular shape with a red felt border running all around a rectangular black background on which are sewn (as applique) four red designs: a killer whale at the top, and a grizzly bear at lower centre flanked by an eagle and a raven. White buttons are sewn all along the red applique designs. White buttons in triangular groups of three are also sewn along the outer edge of the black background. Two satin ties are sewn onto upper red border. Small copper plate (5.2cm x 1.6cm) with engraved inscription is sewn at reverse side of upper corner: "E. Gosnell & Son Copper & Carving Aiyansh, B.C."

Unfinished Hat2509/14

Miniature unfinished hat still attached to five knitting needles. The top 2.5 cm of the chullu is a light white-brown colour, bottom 4.1 cm is red. One band of geometric shapes between two thin blue lines, and two narrow parallel rows of white zigzag, and blue square and white dot pattern. Ends of off-white wool are wrapped all around the needles.

Ikat Textile1786/3

Long, rectangular, woven textile with bands of alternating colours which repeat regularly. There is a red and orange short thread fringe on both end and a cotton label is machine sewn at one end. The label reads: ‘Quiche, 100% wool, made in Guatemala’. Some bands of colour have a metallic-like gold thread woven into them. The textile is pink, red, orange, yellow, green, black, blue and purple.
