The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Belt. Textile is made of thin cotton, now tan in colour, heavily embroidered along its length in red and blue wool thread. Vertical lines start widely spaced and move closer until it is one continuous pattern of alternating colours in triangle, diamond, linear and X-shaped motifs. Opposite end holds strands of long, light tan coloured fringe.
White ceramic pipe bowl (part a) with a partly handmade wooden stem (part b). Outside of bowl is oblong and upright, painted on front with a green and brown scene of a buck walking through a forest. The bowl sits inside one arm of the ceramic double shank, with the thin wooden stem emerging from the other. Bit and lip appear to be made from a plastic-like material (possibly added later). A thin tie of twisted wool in green and tan is attached where bowl meets shank.
Open-work, rectangular textile. Fine white thread has been twisted to create a mesh grid, with patterning appllied by in-filling squares of the mesh across large areas. Patterns include lines, zigzags, collections of squares, and key patterns. What remains of the edges has been finished.
Rectangular cloth is constructed in a fine weave, with geometric patterns connected by open-work stitching. Two large zigzagging lines separate the areas of patterning. At bottom is a row of similar stepped motifs. Cloth is coloured shades of brown.
Hat is small and round in shape. The exterior is a dark navy blue, and at the crown there is a small loop of fabric. The front brim is decorated with thick brown and orange wool embroidery in a geometric pattern.
Knitted cap. Hat is round, brimless, with a tall crown. Above is a thick knitted ridge, and top is slightly rounded. Patterning on crown is three lines in black, top and bottom with a scrolled ‘x’ design, and middle with alternating ‘x’ and diamond shapes. Ridge is white, and top holds a white circle at centre with beams radiating outward into a black background. Interior is unlined.
Large mask. A leatherette form fits over the head, and is covered with a thick pallet of sheep wool, a long red leather face emerging at centre. Face has a trunk-like nose painted with yellow, black and white stripes, and a long red and white tongue hanging below. A moustache of sorghum sits below the nose, with bean teeth attached. Goose feathers serve as large ears along the side of the head, and long black horns emerge above. Wool pompoms and bunches of pheasant feathers top the horns, and a wreath of ribbons and paper flowers span the distance between them.
Textile. Long cloth is dark brown with thin multi-coloured stripes at even intervals, and wide end stripes of mauve, green, blue and yellow. Ends hold a short warp fringe. Dense embroidery covers the surface in small motifs ranging from joined triangles, X-shapes, and boxes, in a colours such as neon pink, red, blue, green and orange. The backside shows no embroidery other than long, single remnants of thread.
Robe made up of many horizontal strips of cloth sewn together into a single piece of fabric. This is folded and sewn to create a tube-like garment. Weave is tight, fabric is thick, with a blue and white checker pattern overall, decorated with flower motifs at the edges. At middle is an area of high patterning, showing diamond shapes and wavy lines set in strips. At each end of the robe is an attached set of twisted tassels.
Dance blanket made of navy blue wool felt with red felt borders. A stylized wolf figure is appliqued in red wool in the centre. Part b is a small rectangular piece of navy blue felt with a button hole, for securing the robe at the neck.
